Edward Sackett, tailor of Ramsgate, Kent, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, on 6 October 17991 and baptized at St Lawrence in ThanetG on 24 November 1799.1 He died aged 772 and was buried at St Lawrence in ThanetG on 18 November 1876.3 He married at St Lawrence in ThanetG on 12 April 1825, Sarah Sage.4 Sarah was born in Dover, KentG, in about 1800.5 She died aged 806,7 and was buried at St Lawrence ChurchG on 3 February 1880.6
Edward was named as a beneficiary in his grandfather John Sackett's will made in St Peter in Thanet, KentG, on 26 April 1823. He was to receive an amount of £30 at age 21.8
In 1841 Edward was living at Hereson Road, St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, and was recorded in the census as Edward Sackett, a tailor, aged 40 and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Sarah, also 40, and their children, Edward, 9, Jeremiah, 7, Eliza, 5, and Mary, 3. Also in the household were Ruth Sage, 23, and Mary Sage, 20, presumably both related to Edward's wife Sarah.9
In 1851 he was living at 34 Addington Place, Ramsgate, KentG, and was recorded as Edward Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 50, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 49, and born in Dover, and their children Edward, 19, Jeremiah, 16, Mary Ann, 13, and Henry, 9.10
In 1861 he was living at 7 Spencer Square, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Edward Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 61 and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 60 and born in Dover, Kent, and their sons Edward, 29, Jeremiah, 27, and Henry, 19.11
