Addie J Sackett, daughter of Charles W Sackett and Emma J Bailey, was born in New York State^G about 1867.¹ She died aged about 75 in Binghamton, Broome County, New York State^G, on 17 November 1942² and was buried at Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene, Chenango County, New York State^G.⁵ She married first in Brisben, Chenango County^G, on 25 August 1888, Sherman D Lawton, son of Henry Lawton and Hannah Lenox.³ Sherman was born in Greene^G in 1862.⁶ He died aged about 64 in Preston, Chenango County^G, on 11 July 1926 and was buried at Riverview Cemetery, Oxford, Chenango County^G.^5,7 She married second in Liberty, Sullivan County, New York State^G, on 8 September 1923, Madison Henry Sayles, son of Henry M Sayles and Ida Sperry.⁴ Madison was born in Pharsalia, Chenango County^G, on 3 March 1890.^1,8,9 He died aged 88 in New York State^G in November 1978¹⁰ and was buried at Riverview Cemetery, Oxford^G.⁵
     In 1870 Addie was living in Helena, Antrim County, Michigan^G, in the household of her parents Charles and Emma, and was recorded in the census as A J Sackett, aged three and born in New York.¹¹
     In 1880 she was living in Greene, Chenango County, New York State^G, in the household of Eugene Williamson, a farmer, and was recorded as Addie Sackett, a servant, aged 13.¹²
     In 1900 she was living in Greene^G in the household of her husband Sherman Lawton, 33, a day laborer, and was recorded as Addie Lawton, aged 34. Living with them were their children, Ina, 10, Mary, 8, Frankie, 6, Lorena, 3, and Henry, aged one.¹³
     In 1905 she was living in Oxford, Chenango County^G, in the household of her husband Sherman, 36, a day laborer, and was recorded as Addie J Lawton, aged 38. Living with them were their children, Ina, 15, Mary, 14, Lorena, 8, Charles Henry, 6, Herbert, 3, and Nellie, aged one.¹⁴
     Addie and Sherman separated sometime between 1905 and 1909. In 1909 she was living in Binghamton, Broome County, New York State^G.¹⁵
     In 1910 and 1920 Addie was listed in the census living in Chenango, Broome County^G, in the household of Frank Busino, a farmer. In 1910 she was listed as Addie Lawton, housekeeper, aged 40; in 1920 as Addie Busino, wife, aged 51. They were probably not legally married, the record of her later marriage to Madison Sayles in 1923 stating that to be her second marriage (although she used her maiden name and described herself incorrectly as a widow.)^16,17 In 1915 and 1920 Sherman was listed in the census living in Oxford, Chenango County^G. Susan Brown, housekeeper, was living with him.^18,19
     In 1925 Addie was living in Oxford^G and was recorded in the census as Addie Lawton, aged 58. She was living with her brother Victor Sackett and their father Charles. (This record in the name Lawton is at variance with her having married Madison Sayles in 1923.)²⁰
     In 1930 she was living at Oxford Road, Oxford^G, in the household of her husband Madison H Sayles, 40, a farmer, and was recorded as Addie J Sayles, aged 61. Addie's brother Victor Sackett, 58, was living with them.²¹
     In 1940 she was living in Plymouth, Chenango County^G, in the household of her husband Madison, 50, a farm laborer, and was recorded as Addie Sayles, aged 68.²²

Henry C Lawton, son of Sherman D Lawton and Addie J Sackett, was born in Greene, Chenango County, New York State^G, in April 1899.^1,2 He married first in Guilford, Chenango County^G, on 19 August 1919, Armanella M Fineout, daughter of George Fineout and Hanah Hawkinson.³ Armanella was born in Little Falls, Herkimer County, New York State^G, about 1900.² He married second in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania^G, in 1931, Marion E Folts, daughter of Everett Folts and Mary Parkhurst.⁴ Marion was born in Herkimer County^G about 1913.²
     In 1900 Henry was living in Greene, Chenango County, New York^G, in the household of his parents Sherman and Addie, and was recorded in the census as Henry C Lawton, aged one and born in New York.⁵
     In 1905 he was living in Oxford, Chenango County^G, in the household of his parents Sherman and Addie, and was recorded as Chas Henry Lawton, aged six.⁶

Ina A Lawton, daughter of Sherman D Lawton and Addie J Sackett, was born in New York State^G in June 1889.¹
