Elsie A Sackett, daughter of Richard Henry Sackett and Mary Ellen Bosley, was born in Chesterton, Porter County, IndianaG, on 18 October 1875.1 She died aged 65 in Manton, Wexford County, MichiganG, on 1 December 1940.2 She married in MantonG on 2 July 1910, Heman Burr Epley, son of Moses Hayden Epley and Fannie E Smith.3 Heman was born in Jamestown, Ottawa County, MichiganG, on 25 April 1871.4,5,6 He died aged 97 in Saint Joseph, Berrien County, MichiganG, on 24 January 19696 and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, MantonG.5
     In 1880 Elsie was living in Westchester, Porter County, IndianaG, in the household of her parents Henry and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Elsie Sackett, aged five and born in Indiana.7
     In 1900 she was living at Cedar Creek, Wexford County, MichiganG, in the household of her father Henry, and was recorded as Elsie Sackett, aged 25.8
     In 1910 she was living at Cedar CreekG in the household of her widowed father Henry, and was recorded as Elsie Sackett, aged 34, single.9

Heman B. Epley
Heman B. Epley, 97, 1847 Brown School road, St. Joseph, died at 7:40 a.m. today in the Shorebam Terrace nursing home where he had been a patient for ten days.
     Mr. Epley, a retired rural mail carrier, was born in Jamestown Center, April 25, 1871.
     On July 2, 1909, in Manton, he was married to the former Elsie Sackett who died Dec. 2, 1940.
     Mr. Epley was a member of the Brown School Road Church of Christ.
     Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Frances) Langdon, with whom Mr. Epley had been making his home for the past 20 years; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
     Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Dey Brothers funeral home. The Rev. James Cook, pastor of the Brown School Road Church of Christ, and the Rev. Robert Mallett, former pastor of the church, will officiate.
     Following the services, the body will be taken to the Bostick funeral home at Manton where services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.

Joyce S. "Joy" Hitchcock, aged 86, a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, left peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2009.
     Joy was an avid Contract Bridge Player. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband of 58 years and spending the Michigan winters on a beach in Maui, HI.
     Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Craig, and youngest son, James.
     Joy is survived by sons, David (Jean), LaJolla, CA, Curt, Costa Mesa, CA; grandchildren, John, Evanston, IL, Kathryn (Eric), LaJolla, CA; great granddaughter, Kora; and very special friend, Barbara Deppe, Wyoming, MI.
     Funeral services will not be held at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan. The family is being served by: Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service.

     In 1920 Frances was living at South Michigan Avenue, Cedar CreekG, in the household of her adoptive parents Heman and Elsie, and was recorded in the census as Frances Epley, aged four and born in Michigan.4
     In 1930 she was living at South Michigan Avenue, Manton, Wexford CountyG, in the household of her adoptive parents Heman and Elsie, and was recorded as Frances J Epley, aged 14.5

Frances J. Langdon
St. Joseph — Frances J. Langdon, 89, of St. Joseph died Tuesday morning, Feb. 1, 2005, at her residence.
     A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at First Baptist Church, St. Joseph, with the Rev. Mario O. Fritzke officiating. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores. A visitation with her family will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home of Stevensville, Animal Aid, or the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dey-Florin Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, St. Joseph.
     Frances was born on Oct. 3, 1915, in Detroit. She formerly was employed by Grants Dept. Store and G.C.. Murphy Co. In 1950, she went to V-M Corp. where she remained until the company closed. She was a member of First Baptist Church, St. Joseph, where she had served on the Social Committee, the Women's Guild, and as a Sunday School teacher since 1941. She was also the onetime treasurer of the V-M Old Timers Club.
     She is survived by two daughters, Connie Langdon Feller of St. Joseph and Nancy (Rudy) Melhorn of Holland, Mich; and one grandson, Graham Michels of Holland.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Heman Burr and Elsie (Sacket) Epley; and her husband, Raymond E. Langdon.

Cyrus M Sackett, son of Abraham Sackett and Susannah ___, was born in Bucks County, PennsylvaniaG, about 1817.1 He died aged 62 in Wrightstown, Bucks County, PennsylvaniaG, on 6 January 18802 and was buried at Wrightstown Friends Meeting Cemetery, WrightstownG.4,5 He married about 1846, Evelina S Reeder, daughter of Charles Reeder and Sarah ___.3 Evelina was born in Bucks CountyG on 31 December 1823.6,7 She died aged 72 in Newtown, Bucks CountyG, on 20 December 1896.8,9
     In 1850 Cyrus was living in Wrightstown, Bucks County, PennsylvaniaG, and was recorded in the census as Cyrus M Sackett, a farmer, aged 30 and born in Pennsylvania. Living with him were his wife Evelina, 27, and their children, Mary Caroline, 3, and Edgar, aged one.10
     In 1860 he was living in WrightstownG and was recorded as Cyrus M Sackett, a farmer, aged 42. Living with him were his wife Eveline, 36, and their children, Mary, 13, Edward [Edgar], 12, Hannah, 8, and Susanna, aged six.11
     In 1870 he was living in WrightstownG and was recorded as Cyrus Sackett, a farmer, aged 53. Living with him were his wife Evaline, 46, and their son Edgar, 22.12
     In 1880 Cyrus's widow Evelina was living in Penns Park, Bucks CountyG, and was recorded in the census as Evelina S Sackett, a widow, aged 56. Her widowed son Edgar, 32, was living with her.13
     Cyrus's widow Evelina made her will at Newtown, Bucks CountyG, on 20 December 1896, the day of her death. She left her estate to her nephews and nieces, her last surviving child, Edgar, having died two days earlier on 18 December.

Eliza Ann Sackett, daughter of Abraham Sackett and Susannah ___, was born in PennsylvaniaG on 30 December 1810.1 She died aged 64 in Wrightstown, Bucks County, PennsylvaniaG, on 14 January 1875 and was buried at Penns Park United Methodist Church Cemetery, Penns Park, Bucks CountyG.1 She married in PennsylvaniaG on 19 December 1833, Sackett Wetherill, son of Rev William H Wetherill and Hannah Phillips.2,3 Sackett was born in WrightstownG on 8 June 1807.1 He died there aged 83 on 24 December 1890 and was buried at Penns Park United Methodist Church CemeteryG.1 Sackett Wetherill was probably so named in honor of Rebecca Sackett, his father Rev William Wetherill's first wife, who had died aged 41 some five years before Sackett's birth.
     In 1850 Eliza was living in Wrightstown, Bucks County, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of her husband Sackett Wetherill, 42, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Eliza Ann Wetherill, aged 41 and born in Pennsylvania. Living with them were their children, Cyrus, 15, Joel, 13, Sarah, 5, and Mary Ellen, aged two.4
     In 1860 she was living in WrightstownG in the household of her husband Sackett Wetherill, 53, a farmer, and was recorded as Eliza A Wetherill, aged 50. Living with them were their children, Joel, 22, and Sarah, 13. Sackett Wetherill's mother Hannah, 83, was also in the household.5
     In 1870 she was living in WrightstownG in the household of her husband Sackett, 63, a farmer, and was recorded as Eliza Wetherill, aged 60. Living with them were their sons, Cyrus, 35, and Joel, 33. There were also a male farm laborer and a female domestic servant in the household.6
