James Bruce Sackett, US Navy officer, police patrolman, son of Elmer Leo Sackett and June Rose Bandfield, was born in Sacramento, CaliforniaG, on 9 December 1944.1,2 He died aged 65 in Newport News, VirginiaG, on 3 April 2010.3,4,5 James married five times. The names of his first two wives have not been ascertained. He married third at Virginia Beach, VirginiaG, on 23 September 1992, Jacqueline Ann (Ponessi) Marsh, daughter of James Thomas Ponessi and Catherine Elizabeth Leghorn.6 James and Jacqueline divorced at Virginia BeachG on 17 July 1995.9 He married fourth at Virginia BeachG on 14 October 1996, Keike Sasaki Newton.7 They divorced in York County, VirginiaG, on 3 February 2000.10 He married fifth at Newport News, VirginiaG, on 21 March 2002, Linda Maria Jablonski.8
James served in the US Navy for thirty years, enlisting on 19 June 1962 and retiring on 31 August 1992 in the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal on 30 April 1981 for meritorious service.11,12

James Bruce Sackett
Newport News - James "Jim" Bruce Sackett died April 3, 2010, at home at the age of 65.
He was born in Sacramento, Calif., in 1944. Jim retired after 30 years of service from the Navy as an E-9 Master Chief Petty Officer. He also served for 10 years with the Newport News Police Department as a patrolman. After retirement Jim worked for several different local businesses which include Branscome, Bass Pro, and Busch Gardens.
Jim loved to fish, hunt, and ride his Harley Davidson. He also loved "his beer."
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and June Sackett; grandparents, Leo and Georgia Sackett; and a sister, Beverly Byrd.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Linda Sackett; a daughter, Shannon Ormonde of California; and two sons, Kevin Sackett of California, and Jason Jablonski of Newport News; a brother, Leo Sackett and his wife, Janet of California; three grandchildren, Jayce of Newport News, Skyler and Kody of California; and many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date.
