Miles Bontoft Sackett, son of Ira H Sackett and Lucy Gilbert, was born in Sturgis, St Joseph County, MichiganG, in 1839.1,2,3,4 He died aged 60 at 2280 River Street, Delray, Wayne County, MichiganG, on 14 March 18995 and was buried at Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne CountyG.6 He married Louisa Harp. Louisa was born in Aylmer, Elgin County, Ontario, CanadaG, on 24 November 1845.6 She died aged 82 in DetroitG on 16 May 1928 and was buried at Woodmere Cemetery, DetroitG.6
     In 1850 Miles was living in Sturgis, St Joseph County, MichiganG, in the household of his parents Ira and Lucy, and was recorded in the census as Miles Sackett, aged eleven and born in Michigan.7
     Miles served the Union during the American Civil War as a soldier in Company B, 18th Michigan Infantry. He enlisted on 5 August 1862 and was released on 26 June 1865 in the rank of Corporal. He filed for an invalidity pension on 22 September 1879. Louisa filed for a widow's pension on 26 April 1899.8,9
     In 1871 he was living in Malahide, Elgin County, Ontario, CanadaG, and was recorded as Miles B Sackett, a blacksmith, aged 31, born in the United States. Living with him were his wife Louisa, 26, and their daughter Leo, aged one.10
     Miles was listed in the 1872 Aylmer, Elgin County, Ontario, business directory as a carriage maker.11
     In 1880 he was living at Frank Street, Adrian, Lenawee County, MichiganG, and was recorded as M B Seckett, a conductor on the railroad, head of household, aged 41. Living with him were his his wife Louisa, 34, and their daughters, Leo, 10, and May, aged five.12
     Miles was listed in the 1888 Detroit City Directory as the proprietor of the St Charles Hotel at 91 Atwater Street. His death, on 14 March 1899, was recorded in the 1899 edition of the directory. His widow Louisa was listed in 1899 and 1901 at their home, now a boarding house, at 2280 River. Their daughter Lulu, a music teacher, was also living there in those years.13
     In 1900 Miles's widow Louisa was living at River Street, Springwells, Wayne CountyG, and was recorded in the census as Louisa Sackett, a boarding house keeper, head of household, a widow, aged 54. Her daughter Lulu, 19, a music teacher, was living with her. There were also seven boarders in the household.14

Leo Mary Sackett, daughter of Miles Bontoft Sackett and Louisa Harp, was born in Malahide, Elgin County, Ontario, CanadaG, on 25 February 1870.1 She died aged 77 in Detroit, Wayne County, MichiganG, on 3 January 1948.2,3 She married first in DetroitG on 7 August 1888, Charles H Rice, son of Samuel L Rice and Margaret A Sebring.4 Charles was born in MichiganG on 10 October 1862.8,9 They divorced sometime before 1910.9 Charles died aged 69 in Nankin, Wayne CountyG, on 7 February 193210 and was buried at Ogden Zion Cemetery, Blissfield, Lenawee County, MichiganG.11 She married second in Lucas County, OhioG, on 26 November 1919, James Lawrence Fleming, son of Thomas F Fleming and Margaret Hennessey.5 James was born in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York StateG, on 9 July 1876.8 He died aged 50 in DetroitG on 21 April 1927 as a result of a traffic accident when he was struck by a taxi12 and was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, DetroitG.11 Leo married third in Lucas, Richland County, OhioG, on 27 January 1931, Patrick Joseph Haire, son of John Haire and Ellen Judge.6 The marriage was revalidated at Ste Anne French Catholic Church, DetroitG, on 7 December 1934.7 Patrick was born in IrelandG on 1 September 1885.8 He died aged 71 in New York StateG on 9 July 1957.13
     In 1871 Leo was living in Malahide, Elgin County, Ontario, CanadaG, in the household of her parents Miles and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Leo Sackett, aged one and born in Ontario.14
     In 1880 she was living at Frank Street, Adrian, Lenawee County, MichiganG, in the household of her parents Miles and Louisa, and was recorded as Leo Seckett, at school, aged ten.15
     In 1900 she was living near Cavalry Avenue, DetroitG, in the household of her husband Charles Rice, 37, a day laborer, and was recorded as Leo Rice, aged 30.16
     In 1910 she was living at Henry Street, DetroitG, and was recorded as Leo Rice, landlady of a rooming house, divorced, aged 40. There were five roomers in the house.17
     In 1920 Leo was living at Vinewood Avenue, DetroitG, in the household of her husband James L Fleming, 44, a US Mail carrier, and was recorded in the census as Leo Fleming, keeper of a rooming house, aged 49.18
     In 1940 Leo was living at Vinewood Avenue, DetroitG, in the household of her husband Patrick Haire, 55, a mail carrier, and was recorded in the census as Leo Mary Haire, aged 70. There were also four lodgers in the house.19

Lula Grace Sackett, daughter of Miles Bontoft Sackett and Louisa Harp, was born in MichiganG on 17 August 1880.1,2 She died aged 33 in Cook County, IllinoisG, on 27 February 1914.3 She married in Delray, Wayne County, MichiganG, on 24 August 1904, Louis Peter Larson, son of John Larson and Metta Peterson.4 Louis was born in IllinoisG about 1876.5
     Lula was listed as a music teacher in the 1899 and 1901 Detroit City Directories, living with her mother Louisa at the family home at 2280 River Street.6
     In 1900 Lula was living at River Street, Springwells, Wayne CountyG, in the household of her widowed mother Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Lulu Sackett, a music teacher, aged 19.7
     In 1910 she was living at North Maplewood Avenue, Chicago, IllinoisG, in the household of her husband Louis Larson, 33, a soap maker, and was recorded as Lula G Larson, aged 39 [an error for 29]. Living with them were their children, Allene, 2, and Anna, aged nine months.8
