Hazel Evelyn Sackett, daughter of William George Sackett and Mary Jane Eliza McLean, was born in Ontario, CanadaG, on 19 July 1908.1,2 She died aged 92 on 30 May 2001 and was buried at Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG.4 She married in TorontoG on 22 July 1932, Lawrence Elmer Barton, son of Charles D Barton and Eva Alberta Cline.3 Lawrence was born on 9 July 1906.1 He died aged 82 on 10 September 1988 and was buried at Park Lawn CemeteryG.4
     In 1911 Hazel was living in Egremont, Grey South, OntarioG, in the household of her parents William and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Hazel Sackett, aged two, born July 1908 in Ontario.5

Hazel moved to Qualicum Beach, BC from Toronto, ON in August, 1996. She passed away peacefully at Trillium Lodge, Parksville, BC where she had lived for the past 3 years. Survived by 3 daughters, Dawneen Cooper of Qualicum Beach, BC, Gwen (Paul) Merkley of Ottawa, ON and Lawrie Barton of Foresters Falls, ON as well as several nieces and nephews and 2 brothers-in-law. Predeceased by her loving husband, Lawrence, in 1988, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She will be remembered by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and the marvellous staff of Trillium Lodge. Her gifts of love, laughter and music are her legacy to all of us. Friends may call at Turner & Porter, "Yorke" Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street East, Toronto, ON from 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2001 with a Funeral Service in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. Reverend Robert McElhinney officiating. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. Yates Funeral Service & Crematorium and Turner & Porter in care of arrangements.

Arthur LaVerne Sackett, son of Charles Arthur Sackett and Priscilla A Miller, was born in Omaha, Douglas County, NebraskaG, on 18 November 19311,2 and died there aged 85 on 4 August 2017.3 He married about 1951, Neola Lucille Read.2
     Arthur and Neola were listed in the Lincoln, NebraskaG, City Directory from 1951 to 1958 when he was working for the National Biscuit Company.4
     Arthur served in the US Marine Corps, his name appearing in the muster rolls from October 1951 to January 1958 by when he was a staff sergeant with the 86th Infantry Company.5

Arthur LaVerne Sackett, son of Charles Arthur Sackett and Priscilla (Miller) Sackett, passed peacefully into his Lord’s Presence on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Omaha Nursing Home, Omaha, NE. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was married to Neola Lucille Read (deceased) for forty-six years and is survived by their daughters, Dr. Penny Sackett and Lori (Sackett) Mowrer; two grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Ruth (Sackett) Stephens; brother, John Wesley Sackett; half-brother, James Stanley Sackett.
     Arthur was born on November 18, 1931 in Omaha and lived most of his life in Omaha and Lincoln. He was a member of the LaVista Old Timers Band, playing kazoo and other noise makers. He loved to sing old songs and perform for retirement centers. He led the adult Bible study at his church for many years. His passion, in his own words, was that “many would put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and receive eternal life.”
     The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 9th from 11am to 1pm at the Bel Air Chapel, 12100 W. Center Rd., followed by Services at 1pm. Interment, Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors. Memorials will be directed by the family.
