Holland Sackett Duell (1881- )
Colonel Holland Sackett Duell, lawyer, New York State Senator, son of Charles Holland Duell and Harriett M Sackett, was born in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York StateG, on 29 January 1881.1 He died aged 61 in Larchmont, Westchester County, New York StateG, on 25 November 1942.1 He married first at the Collegiate Church, New York CityG, on 29 September 1904, Mabel Halliwell, daughter of Charles Eliezer Halliwell and Anne Brown.2,3 Mabel was born in St Louis, MissouriG, on 9 December 1882.1 They were divorced in Westchester County, New York StateG, on 25 August 1925. He married second in London, EnglandG, on 1 September 1925, Emilie Brown.4
     Colonel Duell served in the First World War as major of the Thirtieth Field Artillery, Seventy-seventh Division, succeeding to the command of his regiment in reserve. He won the Distinguished Service Cross for gallantry in action.4
