Samuel A Sackett, son of Daniel Sackett and Patty Brockett, was born in North Haven, New Haven County, ConnecticutG, on 9 March 18241,2,3 and baptized at the First Congregational Church, North HavenG, on 25 April 1824.4 He died aged 78 in North HavenG on 24 May 1902 and was buried at Montowese Cemetery, North HavenG.5,6,7,3 He married first Betsey Jacobs, daughter of Zophar Jacobs and Betsey Thomas.3 Betsey was born on 24 July 1822.2 She died aged 42 on 24 July 1864 and was buried at Center Cemetery, North HavenG.8,6 He married second on 14 April 1870, Delia M (Young) Culver, widow of John Culver.3 Delia was born in New York StateG on 4 December 1833.9,10 She died on 6 June 1904 and was buried at Montowese Cemetery, North HavenG.6
In 1850 Samuel was living in North HavenG in the household of his parents Daniel and Patty, and was recorded in the census as Samuel Sackett, a mechanic, aged 26.11
In 1860 he was living in North HavenG and was recorded as Samuel Sackett, a carpenter, aged 36. His wife Betsey, 37, was living with him. Samuel's brother Harvey was living next door.12
Samuel registered for the Civil War draft in ConnecticutG in May 1863. He was a mechanic of North Haven, aged 39 and born in Connecticut.13
In 1870 he was living in North HavenG and was recorded as Samuel A Sackett, a carpenter, aged 46. Living with him were his wife Delia M, 36, and her children, Martha, 9, and Benjamin, 8, from her first marriage. Also in the household were a female servant and two farm laborers.14
In 1880 he was living in North HavenG and was recorded as Samuel Sackett, a farmer, aged 56. Living with him were his wife Delia, 46, and her children, Benjamin and Mattie, by her first marriage.15

The funeral will take place at his late residence in Montowese this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. W. Jackson will officlate.
