Captain James Joseph Sackett, of New York City and Bridgeport, Connecticut, son of James Joseph Sackett and Ann Black, was born on 22 October 1812.1 He died aged 33 in New York CityG on 14 March 1846.1,2,3 He married at Williamsburgh, Long Island (now Brooklyn)G, on 26 December 1836, Harriet Capes.1,4 After James's death Harriet married second on 22 March 1855 John Jay Bell.5,6 Harriet was born on 30 July 1812.7 She died aged 76 on 9 November 1888 and was buried at New Woodland Cemetery, Stamford, Fairfield CountyG.8
     James Sackett was a Captain in the 4th Regiment of Connecticut Militia.
     James was listed in the 1840 census as a householder in BridgeportG.9

James Joseph Sackett, 1812–1846, of New York City and Bridgeport, Conn., son of (1867) James Joseph and Ann Blank Sackett, was married, Dec. 26, 1836, to Harriett Capes, 1812–1888, daughter of William Capes, 1784-1854, a ship builder of Hoboken, N. J., and New York City, and his wife Sally Brooks, 1792-1854. Capt. Sackett was interested in local military affairs. In New York City he was a member of National Greys, and after removing to Bridgeport, became captain of a company attached to the 4th Regiment of Connecticut Militia. He was buried with military honors. Mrs. Sackett was married, on March 22, 1855, to her second husband, John J. Bell, of Noroton, Conn.
