Ann Sackett, daughter of Henry Sackett and Ann Terry, was born in Rotherhithe, SurreyG, on 14 June 1771 and baptized at St Mary, RotherhitheG, on 14 July 1771.1 She married at St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, SurreyG, on 18 January 1791, John Preston.2,3
Ann was named as a beneficiary in her father's will made in Kennington Green, Lambeth, SurreyG, on 15 June 1807. She was left, equally with her brother John Henry and sister Mary, a sum of £2,000, together with the proceeds from the sale of all real estate, and the residue of her father's personal estate after other bequests.4
Ann was named as a beneficiary in her uncle Ambrose Sackett's will made in St John in ThanetG on 6 February 1808. She was left an amount of £500 in Government stocks.5

John disappeared after visiting a Mr Harvey at Parsonage House, Woodnesborough, KentG, on 22 April 1808. Harvey placed a newspaper advertisement on 3 May offering a reward of ten guineas for information. It was feared that John, who suffered from fits, may have drowned, or possibly was on board a Royal Navy ship.
