Captain John Sackett, son of William Sackett and Anne Lawrence, was born in Newtown, Long Island, New York StateG, on 27 July 1755.1 He died aged 63 on 12 May 1819.1 He married Elizabeth Gibbs.1
     John was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in 1802. He was left the farm in Newtown, Long Island.2
     John Sackett was a soldier in the American Revolutionary War. He was later commissioned in the Militia, becoming Captain of the Queens County Regiment in 1793.3
