Elizabeth Le Pelley, daughter of Denis Le Pelley and ___ Le Sauvage, was born in St Peter Port, GuernseyG, about 1812. She died aged 86 at La Couture, St Peter PortG, on 13 January 1899.1 She married in Vale Church, GuernseyG, on 25 May 1844, Edward Wheadon, son of John Wheadon and Susanna Pardy.2
In 1851 Elizabeth was living at Normanville Road, St Peter PortG, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Wheadon, head of household, aged 38 and born in St Peter Port. Living with her were her children, Edward, 5, William, 3, and George, aged two, her unmarried sister Mary Le Pelley, 36, and her unmarried aunt, Mary Le Sauvage, 76. Elizabeth was described as a "captain and shipowner's wife", and it may be assumed that her husband was away on business at the date of the census.3
In 1861 she was living at Grenada, Couture Road, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband Edward, 45, a master mariner, and was recorded as Elizabeth Wheadon, aged 49 and born in St Peter Port. Living with them were their children, Edward, 15, William, 13, and George, 11, and a niece, Mary Ann Allez, 16. Also in the household was a charwoman.4
In 1871 she was living at Grenada, Fosse André, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband Edward, 56?, a master mariner, and was recorded as Elizabeth Wheadon, aged 59 and born in St Peter Port. Liivng with them were their unmarried sons, Edward, 25, William, 23, and George, 21, and an unmarried niece, Mary Ann Alles, 26.5
In 1881 she was living at Grenada House, Fosse André, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband Edward, 64, a retired master mariner, and was recorded as Elizabeth Wheadon, aged 69 and born in St Peter Port. Living with them was an unmarried niece Mary Ann Allez, 36.6
In 1891 she was living at Grenada House, Fosse André, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband Edward, 74, a retired master mariner, and was recorded as Elizabeth Wheadon, aged 79 and born in St Peter Port. Living with them was a niece, Mary Ann Allez, 48.7
