Amelia Violet Muriel Sackett, daughter of Vincent Edward Sackett and Elizabeth Perrett, was born in Trimulgherry, Madras, IndiaG, on 26 December 1885 and baptized there on 20 January 1886.1,2 She died aged 86 in St Albans, HertfordshireG, in 1972.3 She married in Holy Trinity Church, Bangalore, Madras, IndiaG, on 30 December 1901, James Simms, a staff sergeant farrier, son of Isaac Simms.4,5,6
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Amelia was living at 48 Heath Road, St Albans, HertfordshireG. She was then aged 53 and was widowed. Her children, Kathleen, Violet, Harry, and Cecilia, were living with her.7
