An affray, that may turn out to be a murder, occurred in Sheridan county over the use of water for irrigating purposes, between Lee Sackett and a Swede, employed by Abraham Zullig, near Big Horn. The Swede is said to have attacked Sackett with a shovel, whereupon the latter drew a pistol and shot the Swede twice. Sackett got a doctor to attend his victim and gave himself up to the sheriff. He was discharged because it was not supposed the wounds were serious. But the Swede is reported as now being in a dangerous condition.

Deceased Was Prominent Big Horn Resident
Note Left For Members of Family Says Ill Health Cause
Ross Orr Sackett, 54, a prominent resident of Big Horn, where he was born and where he had spent almost his entire life, killed himself early Sunday morning by shooting himself in the head with a .410 calibre shotgun, the sheriff's office here said today.
In a note which he left for members of his family, Sackett said that ill health was prompting him to take his own life.
The note was found Sunday morning by the man's son, Jack, when he awoke. His father was not in the house, and so the son went to the Roy Sackett home nearby where he notified officers in Sheridan.
Sackett's body was found by the authorities shortly before 10 a.m. in the yard in back of the house. It was not known how long he had been dead when the discovery was made and no one apparently heard the shot, they said.
No inquest will be held in the shooting.
Sackett's brother, Hugh, had taken his own life also by shooting himself at his home in Buffalo only last winter.
A private service, for members of the family, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Champion Drawing Room, and interment will be in the cemetery at Big Horn.
Ross Sackett was born June 11, 1886, at Big Horn, and had made his home there most of his life, with the exception of several years he spent in Midwest in the oil business. He owned considerable property in and around Big Horn at the time of his death.
While in the oil business he built up an enviable record for safety.
His immediate survivors include two daughters, Charline and Ellen Louise, both of Casper; a son, Jack Darwin Sacket, of Big Horn; two brothers, Clyde Early Sackett of Big Horn and Carl L. Sackett of Cheyenne and Sheridan; and a sister, Mrs. Sula Gatchell of Buffalo.
Other survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

William Wallace Sackett family
William W. Sackett came to Wyoming in 1893, where he hauled freight for his brother Jack and Mr. Skinner, for the building of the Big Horn Mercantile. He and John Fordice started freighting.
Emma Watkins came to Sheridan from Ohio in 1898 and they were married in Sheridan. They had six children, one lived only ten days. They were LeRoy O. Sackett, Ursula S. Dellit, Harold Sackett, Mabel S. Delzell, Dorothy S. Kay, and Shirley S. Drysdale, all but LeRoy are gone. LeRoy lives ¼ mile north of the Big Horn Mercantile and Post Office.
Mr. Sackett and Mr. Fordice started hauling cement and other materials as needed for the building of the Big Horn reservoir. They also hauled equipment, supplies and groceries for a little town that started with the building of the Park reservoir.
Mr. and Mrs. Sackett bought the Edmund Harlbutt place at the foot of the Big Horn mountains, and owned it until 1926.
William liked to hunt and fish. The love of these sports was handed down to his son Leroy.
Mr. Sackett passed away November 25, 1915 and Emma October 10, 1960, both are buried in the Big Horn cemetery.
LeRoy married Bessie Collins, they were married at her cousin's in Sheridan, and lived on the ranch until it was sold in 1926. They then bought the Hurlbert place south of Big Horn, across the creek from the O. P. Hanna homestead. There is a sundial and apple trees where the Hanna cabin stood. The trees were hauled in by wagon and the Big Horn Women's club built the sundial. This cabin was the first one in the area.
LeRoy and Bessie had two children, Delores S. Clifton of Greybull and Kenneth L. of Newcastle.
