In 1930 he was living at Hotel Ottawa, Ottawa City, LaSalle County, IllinoisG, and was recorded as Lawrence J Sackett, a time keeper for the Telephone Company, a roomer, single, aged 27. Also in the hotel were three laborers employed by the Telephone Company, suggesting that they were all working away from home.6

Raymond Lester Sackett, son of Jay Beaumont Sackett and Margaret Agnes Sheehan, was born in Paxton, Ford County, IllinoisG, on 31 January 1890.1 He died aged 66 in Boise, Ada County, IdahoG, on 29 July 19562 and was buried at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Twin Falls, IdahoG.4 He married in Clarkston, Asotin County, Washington StateG, on 8 May 1937, Lillian Agnes McDonald, daughter of Hugh McDonald and Katherine Hazen.3
In 1900 Raymond was living at Dixon Street, Butler, Vermilion County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Jay and Maggie, and was recorded in the census as Raymond Sackett, at school, aged ten and born in Illinois.5
In 1910 he was living in Paxton, Ford County, IllinoisG, in the household of his father Jay and stepmother Bessie, and was recorded as Raymond L Sackett, a farm laborer, single, aged 20.6
Raymond completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was single, aged 27, and was a stockman living at 130 N Center, Paxton, Ford County, IllinoisG.1 He served in France in the First World War as a corporal in the US Army Supply Co, 131st Infantry, 33rd Division. His brother Orville arranged for a military veteran's headstone to be placed on Raymond's grave.4

Rex Eugene Sackett, son of Larry Ray Sackett and Dora Jeanne Stutzman, was born at Twin Falls, IdahoG, on 30 August 1949.1 He died aged 72 in Hells Canyon, IdahoG, on 30 October 2021.1 He married at the South Chapel Naval Training Center, San Diego, CaliforniaG, on 11 April 1969, Sharon Ann Straughn, daughter of J Kenneth Straughn.2

Mr. and Mrs. J. Kenneth Straughn announce the marriage of their daughter, Sharon Ann, to Rex E. Sackett, son of Mrs. Harvey Schlagenhauf and Larry Sackett, all Twin Falls.
The ceremony was performed April 11 at the South Chapel Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif.
The bride wore a street-length gown of ivory organza accented with embroidered flowers trimmed with lace.
Mr. and Mrs. Grover Edmiston were witnesses for the couple.
The newlyweds reside at 3634 3rd Ave., San Diego.
The bride was graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1965 and the bridegroom is a 1966 graduate of Twin Falls High School and is presently serving in the Navy attending sonar electronics school.
The bride was feted at showers hosted by Mrs. Verl Unander, Mrs. Glenn Jenkins and Mrs. Larry Sackett.

Rex Sackett
1949–2021
Rex Eugene Sackett, 72, passed peacefully of an aneurysm on Oct. 30, 2021, at his beloved vacation home in Hells Canyon, sitting on his deck napping and watching the birds with a favorite T-shirt on that read "So many fish, so little time."
A gathering for friends and relatives to celebrate Rex’s life with Sharon and each other is planned for 2022 in Hells Canyon. Details will be sent out as the date and time nears.
Rex Eugene was born on Aug. 30, 1949, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Larry R. and D. Jeanne (Stutzman) Sackett. He attended Twin Falls High School, graduating in 1967.
In 1969, Rex married Sharon Straughn, beginning 52 years of friendship, love and laughter.
Rex enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and served on fast-attack submarines and as an instructor in anti-submarine warfare, retiring in 1988. During that time he earned his masters’s degree in Software Development. He was employed at Hewlett Packard Printer Division (Boise) from 1990 retiring in 2005.
Rex loved fishing for bass with his wife, family and friends on Brownlee, Oxbow, and Hells Canyon reservoirs. He spent his winters golfing in Las Vegas. As a hobby, Rex enjoyed making fishing rods for family and friends.
Rex is survived by his wife, Sharon; and his siblings, Dona Fuchs (Ed), Doug Pollow (Jim England), Mike Schlagenhauf (Lisa), Lori Schmahl; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Bruce Castoe and Nancy and Kip Wood; 10 nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Sackett and Jeanne Schlagenhauf; and his father-in-law, Kenneth Straughn.
