Benjamin Austin Sackett, a farmer, son of Ezekiel W Sacket and Ruth Hart, was born in Chili, Monroe County, New York StateG, on 26 August 1820.1,2 He died aged 81 in White Cortland, Wilcox, Newaygo County, MichiganG, on 17 March 1902 of injuries following an accident and was buried at White Cloud Cemetery, Newaygo CountyG.3,4 He married Mary Nolan.5 Mary was born in New York StateG in 1826.2 She died aged 40 on 20 November 1866 and was buried at Taylor Cemetery, Bangor, Van Buren County, MichiganG.4
     In 1850 Benjamin was living in Hamilton, Madison County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as Benj Sackett, a laborer, aged 30 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Mary, 21, and their son Fredrick, aged seven months.6
     Benjamin bought 40 acres of land in Allegan County, MichiganG, on 15 December 1856.7
     In 1860 he was living in Porter, Van Buren County, MichiganG, and was recorded as Benjamin A Sackett, a farmer, aged 39 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Mary, 31, their children, Cornelia, 9, Austin, 5, and Eva, aged three, and Benjamin's father, Ezekiel, 68.8
     Benjamin registered for the Civil War draft in June 1863. He was a farmer of Decatur, Van Buren County, MichiganG, aged 43 and born in New York.9
     In 1870 he was living in Bangor, Van Buren County, MichiganG, and was recorded as Benjamin Sackett, a laborer, aged 49. Living with him were his children, Austin, 15, Eva, 13, and Mary, aged nine.10
     In 1880 he was living in Alleyton, Newaygo County, MichiganG, and was recorded as B A Sackett, a farmer, head of household, a widower aged 62. Living with him was his daughter Annie, 19.11
     In 1900 he was living in White Cloud, Newaygo County, MichiganG, and was recorded as Benjamin Sackett, a farmer, head of household, widowed, aged 79. He owned his home free of mortgage. Living with him were his unmarried daughters, Eva, 46, and Anna, 39, both school teachers.12
