Laura Ellen Sackett, daughter of John Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Bandy, was born in Cloverdale, Putnam County, IndianaG, on 26 May 1866.1,2,3 She died aged 76 in Clay County Hospital, Brazil, Clay County, IndianaG, on 11 February 1943 and was buried at Cottage Hill Cemetery, Brazil, Clay CountyG, on 14 February 1943.4 She married in Clay County, IndianaG, on 7 December 1883, William Henry Brill, son of Heinrich "Henry" Brill and Catherine Elizabeth Tulley.5 William was born in Poland, Clay CountyG, on 14 June 1859.6 He died aged 72 on 10 May 19326 and was buried at Cottage Hill CemeteryG.6
     In 1870 Laura was living in Cloverdale, Putnam County, IndianaG, in the household of her parents John and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Laura E Sackett, aged six [actually four] and born in Indiana.7
     In 1880 she was living in Harmony, Clay County, IndianaG, in the household of her widowed mother Elizabeth, and was recorded as Laura E Sackett, aged 14 and born in Indiana.8
     In 1900 she was living at Jackson Street, Brazil, Clay County, IndianaG, in the household of her husband William, 40, a coal miner, and was recorded as Laura Brill, aged 34 and born in Indiana. Living with them were their children, Mamie, 13, Guy (wrongly listed as May), 11, Myrtle, 10, and Leah, aged six.9
     In 1910 she was living in Posey, Clay County, IndianaG, in the household of her husband William, 49, a coal mine laborer, and was recorded as Laurie E Brill, aged 47. Living with them were their children, Mamie, 22, Leah, 18 (but see note), Guy, 21, Myrta, 15, William, 7, and Doris, aged eleven months.10
     In 1920 she was living at South Waterworks Road, PoseyG, in the household of her husband William, 60, a coal miner, and was recorded as Laura Brill, aged 50. Living with them were their children, William Jr, 16, and Doris, aged eleven.11
     In 1930 she was living at Waterworks Road, PoseyG, in the household of her husband William, 68, a laborer in a clay works, and was recorded as Laura Brill, aged 59. They owned their home.12
