John Benjamin Sackett, son of Nathan Sackett and Martha Patricia Daukin, was born in about 1828.2 He died while going west on a wagon train in ArkansasG on 1 January 1879.3 He married at Putnam County, IndianaG, on 3 August 1850, Elizabeth Bandy.2
In 1870 John was living in Cloverdale, Putnam County, IndianaG, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, a farmer, aged 42 and born in Indiana. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 35, and their children, George, 18, Martha, 16, Nancy, 14, Frances, 12, William, 10, Mary, 8, Laura, 6, and James, aged four.4
In 1880 John's widow Elizabeth was living in Harmony, Clay County, IndianaG, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Sackett, head of household, a widow, aged 44 and born in Indiana. Living with her were her children, Frances, 21, William, 19, Mary, 17, Laura, 14, James, 12, and Lydia, aged ten.5
