Alfred Sackett, son of John Andrew Sackett and Emma Booth, was born in Hove, Steyning, SussexG, on 28 May 18781,2 and baptized at St Andrew, HoveG, on 28 July 1878.3 He died aged 80 at The General Hospital, Brighton, SussexG, on 9 July 1958.4,5 He married in SteyningG in 1909, Rose Emily Bailey.6,7 Rose was born in Southampton, HampshireG, on 29 May 18868,2 and died aged 80 at 79 New Church Road, HoveG, on 12 August 1966.9,5
In 1881 Alfred was living at 62 Shirley Street, HoveG, in the household of his parents John and Emma, and was recorded in the census as Alfred Sackett, aged two and born in Hove.10
In 1891 he was living at 46 Shirley Street, HoveG, in the household of his parents John and Emma, and was recorded as Alfred Sackett, a scholar, aged 12 and born in West Brighton.11
In 1901 Alfred was living at 46 Shirley Street, HoveG, in the household of his widowed father John, and was recorded in the census as Alfd Sackett, a greengrocer working at home, aged 23 and born in Hove.12
In 1911 he was living at 67 Ellen Street, HoveG, and was recorded as Alfred Sackett, a self-employed dealer in old building material, head of household, aged 32 and born in Hove. Living with him were his wife Rose, 24, and their children, George, 4, and Edith, aged two.13
In 1921 he was living at 67 Ellen Street, HoveG, and was recorded as Alfred Sackett, a self-employed general dealer, head of household, aged 43. Living with him were his wife Rose, 35, and their children, George, 14, and Edith, aged 13.14
Alfred and his brother George proved their father John's will in Lewes, SussexG, on 24 February 1931. His estate was valued at £2,962.
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Alfred and Rose were living at 67 Ellen Street, Hove, SussexG. Alfred was incapacitated.15
Alfred and his brother George were granted administration on 10 December 1956 of their brother Frederick's estate, valued at £800.16
Alfred left a will which was proved on 28 October 1958 by his widow Rose. His estate was valued at £3,117.17
Administration of Alfred's widow Rose's estate was granted on 18 November 1966 to her daughter Edith and to John Alfred Sackett who has not been identified. Her estate was valued at £6,649.18
