Hiram A Sackett, farmer, son of Elijah Gibson Sackett and Malinda Lee, was born in Delaware County, OhioG, on 22 February 1832.1,2 He died aged 76 in Adair County, IowaG, on 10 June 1908 and was buried at Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Adair CountyG.3 He married Mary E Brown.1 Mary was born in OhioG in about 1841.2
In 1850 Hiram was living in Berlin, Delaware County, OhioG, in the household of his parents Elijah and Malinda, and was recorded in the census as Hiram A Sackett, aged 19 and born in Ohio.4
In 1860 he was living in Bloomington, McLean County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Elijah and Malinda, and was recorded as Lyman [sic] Sackett, aged 28.5
In 1860 he was living in Oldtown, McLean County, IllinoisG, in the household of his brother Francis and sister-in-law Ruth, and was recorded as Hiram G Sacket, a farmer, aged 28 and born in Ohio. His wife Maria, 21, was living with him.6
In 1880 he was living in Grove, Adair County, IowaG, and was recorded as Hiram Sackett, married, a farmer, aged 38 (he was actually 48), and born in Ohio. Other family members were his wife Mary, aged 39, and children Lyman, 17, Francis, 14, Dudley, 12, Henry, 10, Orville, 8, and Clark, aged four.2
