Nancy B Sackett, daughter of Isaac Sackett and Polly Hammond, was born in Grand Isle, Grand Isle County, VermontG, on 27 November 1802.1,2 She died aged 89 in Jericho, Chittenden County, VermontG, on 8 January 18921,3 and was buried at Jericho Center CemeteryG.5 She married in 1827, Job Martin.1,4 Job was born in South Hero, Grand Isle County, VermontG, on 13 September 1792.6,4 He died aged 61 on 9 May 1854 and was buried at Jericho Center CemeteryG.5
In 1850 Nancy was living in Jericho, Chittenden County, VermontG, in the household of her husband Job, 55, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Nancy Martin, aged 50. Living with them were their children, Edgar, 18, Amrett, 16, Edmund, 14, Ann, 10, and Buel, aged eight.7
Nancy was named as a beneficiary in her father's will made in Colchester, Chittenden County, VermontG, on 14 May 1851. She was to share equally with her four siblings the residue of the estate after allowing for their mother's lifetime interest in the homestead and the payment to her of an annuity of $50.8
In 1860 she was living in JerichoG and was recorded as Nancy Martin, head of household, aged 58. Living with her were her children, Edgar, 29, Edmund, 27, and Buel, 17. A Sarah Martin, 29, also in the household, was probably Edmund's wife, with a child, Orvilla, 13, from a previous marriage.9
In 1870 she was living in JerichoG and was recorded as Nancy B Martin, aged 67.10
In 1880 she was living in JerichoG and was recorded as Nancy Martin, aged 77.11
The Chittenden Reporter newspaper reported on 28 August 1883 that a guardian had been appointed for Mrs Nancy Martin.12
