Azariah Sackett, son of Thomas Sackett of Hopewell and Sarah Haywood, was born, presumably in PennsylvaniaG, in say 1753.1 He died in OhioG in about 1805.2 He married Elizabeth Young.1
     Azariah served as a sergeant in the Cumberland County (Pennsylvania) Militia in the American Revolutionary War.3,4
     Azariah was listed as a freeman of Fannett, Franklin County, PennsylvaniaG, in tax lists from 1779 to 1785.5 In 1786 he was a taxpayer in Armagh, Cumberland County, PennsylvaniaG. He paid tax there on two horses and two cows in 1788 and on 400 acres of land in 1789.6
     In 1790 Azariah was living in Mifflin, PennsylvaniaG. In his household were one man, one boy, and three females.7
     Azariah removed, probably in the late 1790s, to Ohio. He was named on a petition to Congress, dated 20 February 1801, by settlers on the public land between the "Waters of Muskingum, and Sciota River" seeking pre-emption rights for the land they had settled and improved.8
