Marvin C. E. Sackett, age 85 of Highland, IL, died Monday, October 07, 2019, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.
He was born on Thursday, October 12, 1933, in Pocahontas, IL, the son of Clarence and Katherine (nee Schrumpf) Sackett.
On December 18, 1982, he married D. Marie Gaudette at Marine, Illinois.
He was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ Men's Fellowship; retired member of Teamsters Local #525; VFW Post #5694, Highland; Lee Iten American Legion Post #439, Highland; Helvetia Sharpshooters Society and Highland Saddle Club.
Marvin was born at Pocahontas, IL. He served with the U.S. Army from 7/30/1953 to 5/5/1955, for over a year he was stationed in Germany as a truck driver. Then he was employed as a truck driver and drove for over 50 years. He loved Chrysler and John Deere products. Marvin loved to sing and play old country music. He played the Dobro and enjoyed entertaining at retirement homes and nursing homes.

Interment will be at Grantfork United Church of Christ Cemetery in Grantfork, IL.

Mary Singleton
Mary V. Lenora Singleton, age 66 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Faith Countryside Homes/Apartments in Highland.
     She was born on Friday, November 30, 1945, in Highland, the daughter of Clarence Edward and Katherine Mathilda (nee Schrumpf) Sackett.
     Mary was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ, Grantfork, IL, and the Activity Board of Hitz Memorial Home, Alhambra, IL.
     She grew up on a farm in rural Pocahontas and attended Harned County School, Pierron Public School, Highland High School and graduated from Weslin High School, Trenton, IL in 1963. She lived in Albers, IL, Granite City, IL, and returned to Highland in 1982. The last five years she lived at Faith Countryside Home apartments.
     She worked 17 years at Florist Mutual in Edwardsville. Prior to Florist Mutual she worked at Travellers Insurance, St. Louis, MO, for seven years, and also briefly at Super Valu and Eagle Bank. She enjoyed crafts, music, dancing (line dancing and polka), cards and games. She always decorated the Announcement Boards at the apt. building.
     Survivors include a son, Keith A. (Jill) Singleton, Saint Jacob; a daughter, Michelle L. Sanders, Fulton, MO; 6 grandchildren: Breanna Sanders, Fulton, MO; Josie Dawn Lynn Singleton, Saint Jacob; Haileigh E. Guenther, Saint Jacob; Bradley Sanders, Granite City; Matthew R. Guenther, Jr., Saint Jacob; Rylie Sanders, Fulton, MO; a great-grandchild, Rebecka Garrett, Fulton, MO; one brother, Marvin C.E. (D. Marie) Sackett, Highland; and one sister, Ruth K. F. (Jim) Brusack, Highland.
     She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence E. Sackett (died 5/31/1979); her mother, Katherine Mathilda Sackett, nee Schrumpf (died 6/7/1990); 4 brothers: Varel W. R. "Tyke" Sackett (died 12/20/2009), Udell O. M. Sackett (died 1/15/2008), Olin W. C. Sackett (died 3/1946), and Paul L. C. Sackett (died April 28, 1989); and one sister, Vera V. M. Sackett (died 3/1944).
     Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
     Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 01, 2012, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork.
     Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 01, 2012, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, with Rev. Jean M. Carmean, Interim Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Grantfork U.C.C. Cemetery in Grantfork.
