Louisa Sackett was born in New York State^G on 26 December 1822.¹ Her parents have not been identified. She died aged 81 in Holton, Muskegon County, Michigan^G, on 17 October 1904 and was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Holton^G, on 20 October 1904.⁴ She married about 1842, probably in Pennsylvania^G, David Alexander Syers.^2,3 David was born on 25 July 1820.⁵ He died aged 77 in Holton^G on 13 November 1897 and was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Holton^G.^5,6
     In 1850 Louisa was living in Clarksfield, Huron County, Ohio^G, in the household of her husband Alexander, 29, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Louisa Syres, aged 26 and born in New York. Living with them were their children, Willard, 8, William, 6, George, 5, Wilber, 3, and Wesley, aged one.⁷
     In 1860 she was living in Jamestown, Ottawa County, Michigan^G, in the household of her husband Alexander, 40, a farmer, and was recorded as Louisa Sayers, aged 38. Living with them were their children, Willard, 18, William, 16, Wallace (assumed to be the same as George), 14, Wilber, 12, John W (assumed to be the same as Wesley), 10, Walter, 9, Emily, 6, Margret, 4, and Winfield, aged one.⁸
     In 1870 she was living in Jamestown, Ottawa County, Michigan^G, in the household of her husband Alexander, 49, a farmer, and was recorded as Louisa Syers, aged 47. Living with them were their children, John W, 2[0] (the age is obscured), Walter, 18, Emma, 16, Margaret, 14, Scott (assumed to be Winfield), 12, Wheeler, 9, Warren, 7, and Grant, aged one. Alexander and Louise's son Willard and his family were living next door.⁹
     In 1880 she was living in Holton, Muskegon County, Michigan^G, in the household of her husband Alexander (listed as David A), 54 (actually 59), a farmer, and was recorded as Louisa E Sayers, aged 51 (actually 57). Living with them were their children, Scot W, 21, Grant, 10, and Wilber (presumably Warren), aged 18. Alexander and Louise's sons, Willard and Walter and their families were living in neighboring properties.¹⁰
     In 1900 she was living in Holton, Muskegon County, Michigan^G, and was recorded as Louisa Syers, a widow, aged 72 (actually 77.)¹¹

Louisa's parents have not yet been identified.
     Census records all give Louisa's place of birth as New York State, and her parents are also stated to have been born there. Her death certificate states her place of birth and that of her father as Pennsylvania—although the informant woud appear not to have been a family member.
     References to her maiden name Sackett are found on her death certificate, where her father's name is given as Sackett, and in the marriage records of her sons, Willard in 1890 and Grant in 1896, where she is referred to as Louisa Sackett. A contributor to Find A Grave has her as Laura Louisa.

Willard Syers, son of David Alexander Syers and Louisa Sackett, was born in Pennsylvania^G about 1842.¹ He married first about 1865, Hannah ___.¹ Hannah was born in New York State^G about 1848.¹ He married second in Ionia County, Michigan^G, on 21 April 1890, Eliza Miller, daughter of Jacob Miller.² Eliza was born in Michigan^G about 1855.³
     In 1850 Willard was living in Clarksfield, Huron County, Ohio^G, in the household of his parents Alexander and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Williard Syres, aged eight and born in Pennsylvania.⁴
     In 1860 he was living in Jamestown, Ottawa County, Michigan^G, in the household of his parents Alexander and Louisa, and was recorded as Willard Sayers, a day laborer, aged 18.⁵
     In 1870 he was living in Jamestown, Ottawa County, Michigan^G, and was recorded as Willard Syers, a blacksmith, aged 27. Living with him were his wife Hannah, 22, and their children, Charles, 4, and John, aged two. They were living next door to Willard's parents.⁶

George Wallace Syers, son of David Alexander Syers and Louisa Sackett, was born in Medina County, Ohio^G, on 3 March 1846.¹ He died aged 67 in Byron Center, Kent County, Michigan^G, on 28 March 1913 and was buried at Jamestown Cemetery, Ottawa County, Michigan^G.¹
     In 1850 George was living in Clarksfield, Huron County, Ohio^G, in the household of his parents Alexander and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as George Syres, aged five and born in Ohio.²

Grant W Syers, son of David Alexander Syers and Louisa Sackett, was born in Michigan^G in 1868.^1,2 He died aged about 65 in 1933 and was buried at Holton Cemetery, Holton, Muskegon County, Michigan^G.² He married in Muskegon, Michigan^G, on 15 April 1896, Anna Trygstad, daughter of Ole Trygstad and Mary Peterson.³ Anna was born in Holton, Muskegon County, Michigan^G, in 1877.⁴ She died aged about 61 in 1938 and was buried at Holton Cemetery^G.²
