George F Morris, son of John Morris and Lucinda Sackett, was born in New JerseyG on 3 September 1829.1,2 He died aged 68 on 8 August 18981 and was buried at St Johns Cemetery, Clinton County, MichiganG.1 He married on 4 March 1849, Polly M Ferrington, daughter of George Washington Ferrington and Prudence Pearsall.1 George and Polly were second cousins, both being great-grandchildren of John Sackett (1747–1805) and Prudence Atherton.
     In 1860 George was living in Redford, Wayne County, MichiganG, and was recorded in the census as George Morris, a farmer, aged 29 and born in New Jersey. Living with him were his wife Polly, 27, and their son John, aged ten. Also in the household was a farm laborer.3
     In 1870 he was living in RedfordG and was recorded as George Morris, a farmer, aged 40 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Polly, 37, and their son John, aged 20.4
     In 1880 he was living in Bingham, Clinton County, MichiganG, and was recorded as George Moris, a farmer, aged 51 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Polly, 47, and their son John, 30, and daughter-in-law Catherine, 29.5

John Morris, son of George F Morris and Polly M Ferrington, was born in MichiganG about 1850.1 He married in December 1877, Avis Catharine "Katie" Perrin.2
     In 1860 John was living in Redford, Wayne County, MichiganG, in the household of his parents George and Polly, and was recorded in the census as John Morris, aged ten and born in Michigan.3
     In 1870 he was living in RedfordG in the household of his parents George and Polly, and was recorded as John Morris, a worker on the family farm, aged 20 and born in Michigan.4
     In 1880 he was living in Bingham, Clinton County, MichiganG, and was recorded as John Moris, a farmer, aged 30 and born in Michigan. He was living with his wife Catherine, 29, in the household of his parents, George and Polly.5
     In 1900 he was living in Bingham, Clinton County, MichiganG, and was recorded as John Morris, a farmer, head of household, aged 50 and born in Michigan. He owned his home on a mortgage. Living with him were his wife Avis, 44, their children, Asa, 20, Edna, 14, and Jennie, aged six, and John's widowed mother Polly, aged 67.6
