Washington Irving Sackett, farmer of Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York, son of Theron Sackett and Flora Blake, was born in New York State^G about 1834¹ and died aged about 55 on 2 May 1889.² He married Maria Nevins.¹
     In 1850 Washington was living in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, in the household of his parents Theron and Flora, and was recorded in the census as Irwin [sic] Sackett, aged 15 and born in New York.³
     In 1860 he was living in Hanover^G in the household of his father Theron and stepmother Catharine, and was recorded as Irving Sackett, a farmer, aged 25.⁴
     In 1880 he was living in Hanover^G and was recorded as Irving Sacket, a farmer, head of household, married, aged 47 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Maria, 44, and their children, May, 18, Glennie, 6, and Herbert, aged two.⁵

Norman A Sackett, son of Theron Sackett and Flora Blake, was born in New York State^G about 1830.^1,2 He married on 16 May 1851, Maria Elizabeth Dewey.¹
     In 1850 Norman was living in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, in the household of his parents Theron and Flora, and was recorded in the census as Norman Sackett, a farm laborer, aged 20 and born in New York.³

Julia M Sackett, daughter of Theron Sackett and Flora Blake, was born in New York State^G about 1841.¹
     In 1850 Julia was living in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, in the household of her parents Theron and Flora, and was recorded in the census as Julia Sackett, aged nine and born in New York.²
     In 1860 she was living in Hanover^G in the household of her father Theron and stepmother Catharine, and was recorded as Julia Sackett, aged 19.³
     In 1870 she was living in Hanover^G in the household of her father Theron, and was recorded as Julia Sackett, at home, aged 28.⁴
     In 1880 she was living in Hanover^G in the household of her father Theron, and was recorded as Julie Sacket, aged 39. According to the census record, she suffered a spinal cord disability while her sister Harriet suffered from heart disease. Harriet's later death record suggests it would have been Harriet who suffered the spinal disability.⁵

Harriet N Sackett, daughter of Theron Sackett and Flora Blake, was born in New York State^G about 1848.^1,2 She died aged about 46 in Silver Creek, Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, on 30 June 1894.^3,4
     In 1850 Harriet was living in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, in the household of her parents Theron and Flora, and was recorded in the census as Harriet Sackett, aged two and born in New York.⁵
     In 1860 she was living in Hanover^G in the household of her father Theron and stepmother Catharine, and was recorded as Harriet Sackett, aged twelve.⁶
     In 1870 she was living in Hanover^G in the household of her father Theron, and was recorded as Hattie Sackett, at home, aged 22.⁷
     In 1880 she was living in Hanover^G in the household of her father Theron, and was recorded as Hattie Sacket, aged 30. According to the census record she suffered from heart disease while her sister Julie suffered a spinal cord disability. Hattie's later death record suggests that she would have been the sister with the spinal disability.⁸
     Harriet made her will on 31 January 1894. Her sister Julia M Sackett was to receive all her real and personal estate and was named as executrix. Next of kin named in court were sisters, Julia M Sackett of Smiths Mills, New York, and Ann Wood of W Natcheso, Klickitat County, Washington, and brother Norman Sackett of Chaseburg, Vernon County, Wisconsin. The will was proved on 13 October 1894 at the Surrogate's Court, Mayville, Chautauqua County^G, Julia M Sackett as executrix to administer the estate.⁹
     The unusual circumstances of Harriet's death made the news throughout the country, the story being repeated in dozens of local newspapers across the United States from Oregon to New York to Texas, and across the border in Canada.

Joel Sackett, son of Egbert Sackett and Harriet Latham, was born in New York State^G about 1846.^1,2
     In 1860 Joel was living in Irving, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, in the household of his parents Egbert and Harriet, and was recorded in the census as Joel Sackett, aged 13 and born in New York.³

Dudley P Sackett, son of John Sackett and Elizabeth Jane Brown, was born in New York State^G in 1842.^1,2 He died on 18 September 1906.¹ He married in 1876, Ida A Curtis, daughter of Thomas S Curtis and Mary Campbell.¹ She was born in Massachusetts^G about 1852.²
     Dudley Sackett served as a Union soldier in the American Civil War in the 3rd Regiment, Minnesota Infantry.^3,4
     In 1880 Dudley was living at Fairmont, Martin County, Minnesota^G, and was recorded in the census as Dudley P Sackett, head of household, a school teacher, aged 37, and born in New York. Other members of his household were his wife Ida, aged 28, born in Massachusetts, his daughters Nellie, aged two, and [unnamed], aged ten months, both born in Minnesota, Ida's sister Emma, aged 17, and a Lucy Harison, a seamstress, married, and aged 36.⁵
     He was recorded in the veterans' schedules of 1890 living in Fairmont^G.⁴
     In 1900 he was living in Fairmont, Martin County, Minnesota^G, and was recorded as Dudley P Sackett, a nurseryman, head of household, aged 57 and born in New York. He owned his home free of mortgage. Living with him were his wife Ida, 48, and their children, Florence, 18, George, 15, and Dora, aged seven. Ida's widowed mother Mary and unmarried sister Florence were living next door.⁶

Chauncey Sackett, son of John Sackett and Elizabeth Jane Brown, was born in 1845.¹ He died aged 18 in 1863.¹
     Chauncey Sackett served as a Union soldier in the American Civil War in the 7th Regiment, Minnesota Infantry. He died in service.²

William E Sackett, son of John Sackett and Elizabeth Jane Brown, was born in New York State^G in 1849.¹ He married Ida Bennett.¹
     In 1880 William was living in Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota^G, and was recorded in the census as Wm E Sackett, head of household, a teamster, aged 30 and born in New York. Also in his household were his wife Ida, aged 26 and born in Wisconsin, and his son John B, aged six and born in Minnesota.²
