John Evans "Jack" Kimber Jr

John Evans "Jack" Kimber Jr, son of John Evans Kimber and (Mary) Alice Barnes, was born in Santa Barbara, California^G, on 5 August 1925.¹ He died aged 87 in Pittsburg, Contra Costa County, California^G, on 18 January 2013.¹ He married first in Massachusetts^G in 1946, Marion Esther Burnham.¹ Marion was born in Torrington, Litchfield County, Connecticut^G, on 24 March 1922 and died aged 56 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania^G, on 15 December 1978.¹ He married second in 1991, Galina Lebedeva.
     Jack Kimber joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 to serve in the Pacific during World War II. He later earned a B.S. and Ph.D. from MIT. He was on the faculties of the University of Nebraska, Utah State University, and other colleges as a math and computer programming professor. Since the Vietnam War era, he was a peace activist and champion for such causes as homelessness. He had a wide-ranging intellect that led him to study many disciplines, enjoying art and music as well as hiking, biking and swimming. [Obituary]
