John Evans "Jack" Kimber Jr, son of John Evans Kimber and (Mary) Alice Barnes, was born in Santa Barbara, CaliforniaG, on 5 August 1925.1 He died aged 87 in Pittsburg, Contra Costa County, CaliforniaG, on 18 January 2013.1 He married first in MassachusettsG in 1946, Marion Esther Burnham.1 Marion was born in Torrington, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 24 March 1922 and died aged 56 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, PennsylvaniaG, on 15 December 1978.1 He married second in 1991, Galina Lebedeva.
     Jack Kimber joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 to serve in the Pacific during World War II. He later earned a B.S. and Ph.D. from MIT. He was on the faculties of the University of Nebraska, Utah State University, and other colleges as a math and computer programming professor. Since the Vietnam War era, he was a peace activist and champion for such causes as homelessness. He had a wide-ranging intellect that led him to study many disciplines, enjoying art and music as well as hiking, biking and swimming. [Obituary]
