Gladys Winifred Sackett, daughter of Edward Sackett and Rose Ellen Colbourn, was born in Sheerness, KentG, on 26 July 1897.1,2,3 She died aged 84 in Greenwich, LondonG, on 12 December 19814 and was buried at Greenwich CemeteryG on 21 December 1981.5 She was unmarried.
     In 1901 Gladys was living at Horncastle Road, Skirbeck, LincolnshireG, in the household of her parents Edward and Rose, and was recorded in the census as Gladys W Sackett, aged three and born in Sheerness.6
     Gladys attended St Botolph's Church of England Primary School, Boston, LincolnshireG, from 9 June 1902. The family were then living at 41 Tower Street. She left the following month on 4 July to attend a private school.7
     In 1911 Gladys was living at 93 Victoria Road, Charlton, LondonG, in the household of her parents Edward and Rose, and was recorded in the census as Gladys Winifred Sackett, a schoolgirl, aged 13 and born in Sheerness.8
     In 1921 she was living at Avery Hill College, Eltham, LondonG, and was recorded as Gladys Winifred Sackett, a maid, aged 23.9
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Gladys was a maid in a maternity home, living at 48 Mayhill Road, GreenwichG, with her widowed mother Rose and brother Sidney.10
