John D Sackett, son of John Meserole Sackett and Sarah J Dodge, was born in New York StateG in August 1845. He died aged 66 in New JerseyG on 22 September 1915.1 He married first in Paterson, Passaic County, New JerseyG, on 20 January 1869, Harriet A Conklin.2,3 He married second in PatersonG on 10 October 1876, Julia Perry, daughter of Cornelis Perrius and Annetje Soeteman.4,5,6 Julia, whose biirth name was Teuntje Perrius, was born in Goedereede, HollandG, on 9 September 1855.7 She died aged 35 in Manchester, Passaic County, New JerseyG, on 31 October 1890.8 He married third in PatersonG on 31 March 1897, Lois (Swindells) Lane, daughter of James Swindells and Ann ___.9 Lois was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, EnglandG, in March 1861.10,11 She immigrated to the United States in 1890.10 After John's death, Lois married in New Jersey in 1919, Peter Jaspers.12 Lois died aged 82 at Fair Lawn, Bergen County, New JerseyG, on 4 December 1943.1
In 1850 John was living in New York CityG in the household of his parents John and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, aged five and born in New York.13
In 1860 he was living in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York StateG, in the household of his parents John and Sarah, and was recorded as John Sackett, aged 15.14
In 1870 he was living at Saddle River, Bergen County, New JerseyG, in the household of his parents John and Sarah, and was recorded as John D Sackett, a railroad worker, aged 23.15
In 1875 he was living in DeerparkG in the household of his sister Adaline and brother-in-law George Miller, and was recorded as John D Sackett, a railroad brakeman, a boarder, married, aged 26.16
John was named as a beneficiary in letters of administration of his father's estate granted at the Bergen County Surrogate's Office, New JerseyG, on 17 January 1878.17
In 1880 he was living in Paterson, Passaic County, New JerseyG, and was recorded as John Sacute, a railroad clerk, head of household, aged 29. Living with him were his wife Julia, 24, and their daughter Annie, aged eight months.18
In 1885 John was living in Manchester, Passaic CountyG, and was recorded in the census as John D Sackett, aged 20 to 60. Living with him were his wife Julia, 20 to 60, and their children, Annie, 5 to 20, and William, 5 or under.19
In 1900 John was living at Manchester Township, Passaic County, New JerseyG, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, a salesman, head of household, aged 50 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Lois, aged 39 and born in England, his children William, 18, and Henrietta, 13, and Lois's son Thomas, 19.20
In 1905 he was living at Manchester, Passaic CountyG, and was recorded as John D Sackett, a patent medicines manufacturer, aged 49. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Lois, 43, and John's children, William, 22, and Henrietta, aged 18.21
John was listed in the Paterson, New Jersey, City Directory from 1887. He was at various times a butcher, a salesman, a peddler, and a dealer in patent medicines. His widow Lois was listed in 1916 and 1917.22
Sackett—In Paterson, on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1915, John D., beloved husband of Lois Sackett. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, Sept. 25, from the residence of his son, William M. Sackett, 315 Wagaraw road, Hawthorne, at 2 o'clock p.m. Interment at Cedar Lawn.

Mrs. Lois S. Jasper
Mrs Lois Swindles Jasper, died suddenly on Saturday morning while visiting her son, Thomas Lane, at 13-23 Third street, Fair Lawn. She was born in Macclesfield, England, 82 years ago. A member of the Woman's Benefit Association, Review Board No. 1, she also was a member of the Hawthorne Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the John Vermeulen Funeral Home, 336 Broadway. The Rev. Paul E. Spiecker, pastor of the Hawthorne Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Fair lawn Cemetery.
Surviving are her son Thomas Lane of Fair Lawn; one stepdaughter, Mrs William White of Hoboken; one grandson, Thomas Lane of Rockaway Park, N.Y; three granddaughters, Mrs. James Ogle of Totowa Borough, Miss Anna and Miss Tillie Lane of Fair Lawn; one great-grandson, James Ogle, Jr., of Totowa Borough.
