Beatrice Sackett, daughter of Charles A Sackett and Florence A Ruland, was born in Kent, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 14 September 1900.1,2 She died aged 92 in Cornwall, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 17 October 1992.3,4,5,6 She married first at the Old First Presbyterian Church, Fifth Avenue, New York CityG, on 18 May 1922, Alfred Purdy Hodgman, son of George Barker Hodgman and Daisy Purdy.7,8,9 Alfred was born in New York CityG on 22 January 189710 and died aged 35 in Manhattan, New York CityG, on 14 March 1932.11 She married second at St Stephen's Church, Ridgefield, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, on 7 July 1944, Philip Campbell "Peter" Eccles, son of William McAdam Eccles MS, FRCS and Anna Coralie Anstie.12 Philip was born in St Marylebone, LondonG, on 27 July 1907.2,13 He died aged 53 in San Francisco, CaliforniaG, on 22 December 196014 and was buried at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, San Mateo County, CaliforniaG.15 "Peter" Eccles was a banker with Barclays Bank, serving in the Middle East and Africa before taking up the management of the Bank's operations in California. His brother David Eccles (later 1st Viscount Eccles) was a minister in Churchill's wartime and post-war cabinets.
     In 1910 Beatrice was living at Grand Avenue, Brooklyn, New York CityG, in the household of her parents Charles and Florence, and was recorded in the census as Beatrice Sackett, aged nine and born in Connecticut.16
     In 1920 she was living at Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, New York CityG, in the household of her parents Charles and Florence, and was recorded as Beatrice Sackett, aged 19.17
     In 1930 she was living at Parkway Road, Bronxville, Westchester County, New York StateG, in the household of her husband Alfred, 33, a silk salesman, and was recorded as Beatrice Hodgman, aged 29. Their one-year-old son Charles was living with them. They owned their home. There was also a female housekeeper in the household.18
     Beatrice travelled from Spain on the SS Greeley Victory, arriving in New York on 18 July 1946. She visited Cape Town, South Africa, in 1948, sailing from Brooklyn, New York, on the SS Robin Mowbray. Beatrice visited England in 1951, travelling on the Queen Mary from New York on 5 January 1951. She returned with her husband Philip, travelling first class on the Queen Mary from Southampton and arriving in New York on 6 February 1951. In 1958 Beatrice visited Spain, returning from Algeciras on the SS Constitution and arriving in New York on 23 October 1958.19,20,21,22,23
