William George Sackett, farmer, son of George Edward Sackett and Martha Anne Cochrane, was born in Egremont, Ontario, CanadaG, on 20 December 1869.1,2 He died aged 90 on 30 January 1960 and was buried at Swinton Park Cemetery, Grey County, OntarioG.3 He married first in Proton, Grey County, OntarioG, on 2 May 1889, Mary Jane Eliza McLean, daughter of Hugh McLean and Frances Moody.4 Mary was born in Proton TownshipG on 26 March 1871.1,2 She died aged 57 at 53 Oakwood Avenue, TorontoG, on 20 December 19285 and was buried at Park Lawn Cemetery, TorontoG, on 24 December 1928.5 He married second on 5 April 1939, Grace Knox.6
In 1871 William was living in Egremont, Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG, in the household of his parents George and Martha, and was recorded in the census as William J Sackett, aged one and born in Ontario.7
In 1881 he was living in EgremontG in the household of his parents George and Martha, and was recorded as William George Sacket, aged twelve.8
In 1891 he was living in Proton, Grey East, OntarioG, and was recorded as William Sacket, a farm labourer, aged 22. Living with him were his wife Mary, 20, and their daughter Martha S, aged one.9
In 1901 he was living at EgremontG and was recorded as William Sackett, head of household, aged 31 and born 20 December 1869. Living with him were his wife Mary, aged 30, and his children, Sylva, 11, Lilian, 8, Olive, 7, Gordon, 5, Edna, 2, and Alva, aged one month.10
In 1911 he was living at EgremontG and was recorded as William Sackett, a jobbing labourer, head of household, married, aged 41 and born December 1869 in Ontario. Living with him were his wife Mary Jane, 40, and their children, Lillie, 20, Gordon, 15, Edna, 12, Ettie, 10, Lawrence, 8, and Hazel, aged two. William's father George was living next door.11
In 1921 he was living at 6 Afton Avenue, TorontoG, and was recorded as William G Sackett, a carpenter, head of household, married, aged 51 and born in Ontario. He owned his home. Living with him were his wife Mary, 50, and their unmarried children, Sylvia, 31, Lillian, 30, Olive, 27, Gordon, 26, Edna, 22, Etta, 19, Lawrence, 17, and Hazel, aged 12.12 [Sylvia, Lillian, Olive, and Gordon were all married and established in their own households; their listing here would appear to be in error.]
In 1957 William was recorded on the voter list, living at Red Deer Avenue, Danforth, OntarioG.13
