Sylvia Martha Sackett, daughter of William George Sackett and Mary Jane Eliza McLean, was born in Egremont, Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG, on 20 October 1889.2 She was registered at birth as Martha Sylvia but changed to Sylvia Martha when a young girl. She died aged 95 in Bolton, Peel Regional Municipality, OntarioG, on 22 June 1985.3 She is named on her husband's gravestone at St John's Cemetery, Mono, Dufferin County, OntarioG.3 She married in Toronto, York County, Ontario, CanadaG, on 9 September 1908, James Edward Howatt, a carpenter, son of Richard Howatt and Eliza Lee.4 James was born in OntarioG on 14 November 1881.5 He died aged 75 in Orangeville, Dufferin County, OntarioG, on 7 April 1957 and was buried at St John's Cemetery, MonoG.3
     In 1891 Sylvia was living in Proton, Grey East, OntarioG, in the household of her parents William and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Martha S Sacket, aged one and born in Ontario.6
     In 1901 Sylvia was living in Egremont, Grey South, OntarioG, in the household of her parents William and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Sylva M Sackett, aged 11, born 20 October 1889.1
     In 1911 she was living in TorontoG in the household of her husband James Howett, 28, a carpenter, and was recorded as Selina? Howett, aged 21. Her sister Olive, 18, was living with them.7
     In 1921 she was living at 229 Maria Road, Weston, OntarioG, in the household of her husband James, 38, a carpenter, and was recorded as Sylvia Howitt, aged 31. Living with them were their children, Eileen, 11, Newton, 9, Roy, 7, and Ivan, aged six.8

Peacefully at King Nursing Home, Bolton on Saturday, June 22, 1985, Sylvia Martha Sackett, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late James Edward Howatt and dear mother of Eileen (Mrs. Palmer Barton), Milton; Newton, Weston; Roy, Georgetown; Bruce, Stroud and predeceased by Ivan. Fondly remembered by 6 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Gordon, Sunderland; Lawrence, Hazel (Mrs. Lawrence Barton) and Etta Littler all of Toronto.
     Funeral service was held at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S., Bolton on Monday, June 24 at 2:00 o’clock followed by cremation.
