Emily Grace Sackett, daughter of Walter John Samuel Sackett and Rebecca Janet Hawkins, was born in Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, in April 1873.1 She died aged 74 in Hackney, MiddlesexG, in 1947.2 She married in Hackney, MiddlesexG, in 1892, Edgar Harrison Rhodes, son of Thomas Rhodes and Mary ___.3,4 Edgar was born in Kensington, LondonG, on 10 October 18725 and baptized at St Mark's Church, Notting Hill, LondonG, on 20 November 1872.6 He died aged 44 in Bramley, YorkshireG, in 1917.7
     Emily was admitted, aged four, to St Paul's School, Hackney, LondonG, on 30 October 1877, and was re-admitted on 3 June 1878. The family was then living at 61 Brougham Road.8
     In 1881 Emily was living at 6 Montague Road, HackneyG, in the household of her parents Walter and Rebecca, and was recorded in the census as Emily Sackett, a scholar, aged eight and born in Shoreditch.9
     In 1891 she was living at 6 Montague Road, HackneyG, in the household of her parents Walter and Rebecca, and was recorded as Emily Sackett, unmarried, aged 18 and born in Hackney.10
     In 1901 she was living at 6 Montague Road, Dalston, Hackney, LondonG, in the household of her parents Walter and Rebecca, and was recorded as Emily G Sackett, aged 27 and born in Shoreditch.11
     In 1911 she was living at 21 Norfolk Road, Dalston, Hackney, LondonG, in the household of her parents Walter and Rebecca, and was recorded as Emily Sackett, married, aged 37 and born in Shoreditch.12
     In 1921 she was living at 84 Sandringham Road, HackneyG, in the household of her parents Walter and Rebecca, and was recorded as Emily Rhodes, aged 48, a widow.13
     Emily and her husband Edgar would appear to have separated soon after their marriage. She was recorded in the 1901 census under her maiden name; her marital status was not given. In 1911 she again used her maiden name but was recorded as having been married for 18 years. Her death record was in the name of Rhodes. In 1891 Edgar, aged 18 and single, was living with his parents Thomas and Mary in Islington, London. In 1901 he was living in Boston Spa, Yorkshire, with his mother Mary, by then a widow. He was an assistant barman, aged 29 and born in Chalk Farm, London. He described himself as single although he had married in 1892. In 1911 he was living in Leeds, Yorkshire. He was a hotel waiter, aged 38 and born in Chalk Farm. He described himself as a widower. He was living with Blanche Elenor Hudson, 30, a widow.
