James Lemuel Sackett, son of Lieutenant John James Sackett and Esther Stevens, was born in MichiganG on 13 November 1859.1,2 He married in Lebanon, Laclede County, MissouriG, on 18 March 1891, Margaret A Mustard.1 Margaret was born in PennsylvaniaG about 1869.2
In 1900 James was living in Riga, Monroe County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as James Sackett, a farmer, head of household, aged 40 and born in Michigan. Living with him were his wife Margaret, 31, and their children, John, 8, Jean, 6, and James, aged three. There was also a farm laborer in the household.3
In 1910 he was living at Brady Road, Riga, Monroe County, New York StateG, and was recorded as James L Sackett, a farmer, head of household, aged 50. Living with him were his wife Margaret, 41, and their children, John, 17, Jean, 16, James, 13, Josephine, 8, Jeannette, 3, and Helen, aged three months. There was also a hired farm laborer in the household.4
In 1920 he was living at Emmons Road, RigaG, and was recorded as James L Sackett, a self-employed farmer, head of household, aged 60. He owned his home on a mortgage. Living with him were his wife Margaret, 51, and their children, J Lemuel, 27, Jean, 26, James, 23, Josephine, 18, Janet, 13, and Helen, aged ten.5
