Herbert Lyman Sackett, son of Seth Sackett and Ellen R Smith, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in January 1858.1,2,3 He married in WestfieldG on 25 August 1877, Fannie N Sackett, his first cousin, daughter of Lemuel H Sackett and Lydia Chapman.4
     In 1870 Herbert was living in WestfieldG in the household of his parents Seth and Ellen, and was recorded in the census as Herbet [sic] Sackett, aged eleven, attending school, and born in Massachusetts.5
     In 1880 he was living in WestfieldG in the household of his parents Seth and Ellen, and was recorded as Herbert L Sackett, a whip maker, aged 21. His wife Fannie, 22, was living with him.6
     In 1900 he was living at 34 Prospect Street, WestfieldG, and was recorded as Herbert L Sackett, a stocker in a whip factory, aged 42. Living with him were his wife Fannie, 42, and their children, Jessie, 18, Marguerite, 16, and Herbert, aged ten. Fannie's mother Lydia Caswell, 75, was also in the household.7
