Betsey Elvira Sackett, daughter of David Sackett and Anna Parke, was born in MassachusettsG on 23 January 1820.1,2 She died aged 87 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CaliforniaG, on 24 January 19073,4 and was buried at Angelus Rosedale Cemetery, Los AngelesG.7 She married in Blandford, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 12 November 1844, Joseph W Otis, son of Samuel Otis and Sybil Nott.1,5,6 Joseph was born in Chester, Hampden CountyG, about 18202,8 and was buried at Chester Center CemeteryG.7
Betsey was named as a beneficiary in her father's will made in Blandford, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 8 January 1829. She was to receive a sum of $50 at age 18.
In 1850 Betsey was living in Chicopee, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in the household of her husband Joseph, 32, a laborer, and was recorded in the census as Betsey Otis, aged 32 and born in Massachusetts. Their daughter Arabella, 4, was living with them.9
In 1860 she was living in Chester, Hampden CountyG, in the household of her husband Joseph, 40, a laborer, and was recorded as Betsey E Otis, aged 41. Living with them were their daughter Arabella, 14, and Joseph's mother Sybil, 84.10
In 1870 she was living in West Springfield, Hampden CountyG, in the household of her daughter Arabella and son-in-law Henry Wilbur, and was recorded as Betsey Otis, a seamstress, aged 51.11
In 1880 she was living at Broad Street, Middletown, Middlesex County, ConnecticutG, and was recorded as Betsey Otis, aged 58.12
