David Hammond Sackett, son of Isaac Sackett and Polly Hammond, was born in Georgia Center, Franklin County, VermontG, on 9 August 1804.1,2 He died aged 75 in Garden Prairie, Boone County, IllinoisG, on 3 May 18801,2 and was buried in Garden Prairie CemeteryG.2 He married in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, MichiganG, on 1 January 1832, Caroline Ames, daughter of William Ames and Mary Brownell.1,2
     David was listed in the 1840 census as a householder in Deerfield, Boone County, IllinoisG.3
     David was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in ColchesterG on 14 May 1851. He was to share equally with his four siblings the residue of the estate after allowing for their mother's lifetime interest in the homestead and the payment to her of an annuity of $50.4
