Captain Norman Sackett, of New Lebanon, Columbia County, New York, son of Major Buell Sackett and Sally Earl Beach, was born on 27 March 1791.1 He died on 11 July 1868.1 He married in September 1817, Esther Waterman, 1799-1851.1
     Norman Sackett was a commissioned officer in the 72nd Regiment, Columbia County Militia, for several years from 1819.
     In 1850 Norman was living in New Lebanon, Columbia County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as Norman Sackett, a farmer, aged 59. Living with him were his wife Esther, 50, and their children, Marvin, 28, Mary, 22, Esther, 20, Norman, 18, and Saphronia, 15. Also in the household was Dr Harry Drown, 36, who was to marry Mary later that year.2
