Jane Michael, daughter of Rees Michael and Margaret Williams, was born in Llanelli, CarmarthenshireG, about 1830.1 She died aged 76 in Neath, GlamorganG, in 1906.2 She married first at NeathG in 1849, Walter Morgan, son of Thomas Morgan and Margaret ___.3,4 Walter died in 1856. She married second at Neath, GlamorganG, in 1868, James Williams.5,6
     In 1851 Jane was living at 20 Pelley Street, Michaelston-super-AvonG, in the household of her husband Walter Morgan, a collier, and was recorded in the census as Jane Morgan, aged 21 and born in Llanelly.7
     In 1861 she was living at 1 Church Row, Michaelston-super-AvonG, in the household of her widowed mother, Margaret Michael, a baker, and was recorded as Jane Morgan, a widow, aged 31 and born in Llanelly. Living with her were her sons, Thomas, 11, and Rees, aged six. Also in the household were Jane's sister, Sarah, 21, and brother, David, 18.8
     In 1871 she was living at 20 Somerset Place, Michaelstone Lower, CwmavonG, in the household of her second husband, James Williams, and was recorded as Jane Williams, aged 41 and born in Llanelly. Living with them were James's children, Elizabeth Williams, 15, and James Williams, 14, and Jane's son, Rees Morgan, 16.9
     In 1881 she was living at 9 Vaughan Street, Merthyr Tydfil, GlamorganG, in the household of her son Thomas Morgan and his wife Jennie, and was recorded as Jane Williams, a widow, aged 51 and born in Llanelly.10
     In 1891 she was living at 19 Bryntirion Street, Merthyr Tydfil, Dowlais, GlamorganG, in the household of her son Thomas Morgan and his second wife Margaret, and was recorded as Jane Williams, a widow, aged 61 and born in Llanelly, Carmarthenshire.11
     In 1901 she was living at Burrows Road, Skewen, GlamorganG, in the household of her son Thomas and his wife Margaret, and was recorded as Jane Williams, a widow, aged 71 and born in Llanelly.12

Rees Michael, coal miner, of Carmarthenshire and Glamorgan, was born in Llanelli, CarmarthenshireG, about 18051 His parents have not been identified. He died aged about 52 in Neath, GlamorganG, in 1857.2 He married in Llanelli, CarmarthenshireG, on 27 July 1827, Margaret Williams.3
     In 1841 Rees was living at Caeswddi, Llanelli, CarmarthenshireG, and was recorded in the census as Rees Michael, a collier, aged 30 [rounded down] and born in Carmarthenshire. Living with him were his wife Margaret, and children, Mary, 13, Margaret, 9, Anne, 7, Henry, 4, and Sarah, aged one.4
     In 1851 he was living at 34 London Road, Michaelston-super-Avon, GlamorganG, and was recorded as Rees Michael, a collier, head of household, married, aged 45, and born in Llanelly. Living with him were his wife Margaret, 45, and children, Ann, 18, Sarah, 12, and David, aged nine.5
