Henry Sackett, son of John Sackett and Eunice Leffingwell, was born in New Lebanon, Columbia County, New York StateG, about 1819.1,2 He died aged 46 in ConnecticutG on 20 September 1865 and was buried at Still Hill Cemetery, Stamford, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG.5,6 He married in Chicopee, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 10 October 1848, Sophia Taylor, daughter of Samuel Taylor and Rhoda Ann ___.3,4 Sophia was born in Glastonbury, Hartford County, ConnecticutG, about 1822.2
In 1850 Henry was living in Chicopee, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in the household of Walter Palmer, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Henry Sackett, a joiner, aged 30.7
In 1855 he was living in Copake, Columbia County, New York StateG, and was recorded as Henry Sacket, a mechanic, aged 34. Living with him were his wife Sophia, 36, their children, Henry, 5, and Charles, aged three, and Sophia's widowed mother Rhoda Taylor, 68. Henry and Sophia had lived in Copake for four years and owned their home there. Sophia's mother had lived with them in Copake for two years.8
In 1860 he was living in Glastonbury, Hartford County, ConnecticutG, and was recorded as Harry Sacket, a joiner, aged 42 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Sophia, 44, their children, Harry, 10, and Charles, 8, and Sophia's mother Rhoda Taylor, 72.9
Administration of Henry's estate was completed in 1866, the net proceeds being $325 after the sale of his real estate. The estate papers do not name the beneficiaries.10
In 1870 Henry's widow Sophia was living in GlastonburyG and was recorded in the census as Sophia Sackett, aged 54. Her sons Henry, 20, and Charles, 18, were living with her.11
In 1880 she was living in GlastonburyG and was recorded as Sophia Sackett, aged 62. Her son Charles, 28, was living with her.12
