William John Sackett, son of Howard W Sackett and Jessie M Campbell, was born in Greene, Chenango County, New York StateG, on 5 June 1908.1,2 He died aged 56 in Binghamton, Broome County, New York StateG, on 14 January 1965.3 He married in BinghamtonG on 27 November 1930, Mary Louise De Mun, known as Louise, daughter of Melvin A De Mun and Mand Bloat.4 Louise was born in Susquehanna, PennsylvaniaG, on 14 May 1912.2
In 1910 William was living at Grand Street, Greene, Chenango County, New York StateG, in the household of his parents Howard and Jessie, and was recorded in the census as William J Sackett, aged one and born in New York State.5
In 1930 he was living at Prospect Avenue, BinghamtonG, in the household of his mother Jessie, and was recorded as William J Sackette, a shipping clerk for a grocery business, aged 21.6
William and Louise were listed in the Binghamton City Directory in the 1930s and 1940s. William worked usually as a laborer, but was a chauffeur in the early 1930s.7
In 1940 he was living at 28 Dickenson Street, BinghamtonG, and was recorded as William Sackett, a carpenter, aged 33. Living with him were his wife Louise, 27, and their children, Melvin, 7, Leon, 5, James, 4, and Gerald, aged one.8
In 1950 he was living at 5 Gaylord Street, BinghamtonG, and was recorded as William J Sackett, a printer, aged 43. Living with him were his wife Mary, 39, and their children, Leon, 15, James, 14, Gerald, 11, Juanita, 9, Devillo, 6, and John, aged five. Mary's widowed father Melvin, 79, was also in the household.9
