Keziah Ellen Spain, daughter of Thomas Spain and Harriet Crow Jarman, was born in Margate, KentG, in 1835 and baptized at St John in ThanetG on 19 April 1835.1 She married in Ramsgate, KentG, on 23 October 1859, Robert Thomas Bartley, son of James Bartley.2 Robert was born in Dover, KentG, in 1833.3
In 1841 Keziah was living in Ramsgate, KentG, in the household of her parents Thomas and Harriet, and was recorded in the census as Keziah Spain, aged six and born in Kent.4
In 1851 she was living at 3 Chatham Place, RamsgateG, in the household of Humphrey Wightwick, a lawyer, and was recorded as Keziah E Spain, a servant, aged 16 and born in Margate.5
In 1861 Keziah was living at 10 Boundary Place, St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, in the household of her husband Robert, 27, a railway worker, and was recorded in the census as Keziah E Bartley, aged 26 and born in Margate.6
