Rosa Ellen "Rosie" Sackett, daughter of Barzillai Sackett and Sarah Walker Harlow, was born in St Peter in Thanet, KentG, on 8 September 18721,2,3 and baptized at St George's Church, Ramsgate, KentG, on 13 May 1873.4 She died aged 82 at home in North Down, Malver Road, Ashford, KentG, on 19 June 1955.5,6 She married at St Paul, Herne Hill, LondonG, on 24 July 1894, Ernest Leslie Pottinger Quested, son of George Quested and Rebecca ___.7,8,9 Ernest was born in Westgate-on-Sea, KentG, in 18722 and baptized at Minster, KentG, on 26 September 1872.10 He died aged 65 at home at 29 Approach Road, Margate, KentG, on 27 June 1938.11,6
In 1881 Rosa was living at 1 Northwood, St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, and was recorded in the census as Rose E Sackett, a scholar aged eight and born in St Lawrence, daughter of Barzilla Sackett.12
In 1891 she was living at Chilton Farm, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, KentG, in the household of her brother Arthur, 21, a farmer, and was recorded as Rosie Sackett, housekeeper, aged 18.13
In 1901 she was living at 7 Garfield Road, Westbrook, Margate, KentG, in the household of her husband Ernest Quested, 28, a clerk, and was recorded as Rosie Quested, aged 28 and born at Northwood. Living with them were their sons, Eric, 5, and Herbert, aged five months. There was one female domestic servant in the household.14
In 1911 she was living at Hillside Villa, 15 Approach Road, Margate, KentG, in the household of her husband Ernest Quested, 38, of private means, and was recorded as Rosie Quested, aged 38 and born in St Peter's. Living with them were their sons, Eric, 15, and Herbert, aged ten. There was one female domestic servant in the household.15
Rosie proved her mother Sarah's will on 6 January 1923. Her estate was valued at £697.16
Rosie, her husband Ernest, and their son Eric were granted administration in LondonG on 6 July 1926 of Rosie's brother Arthur Henry Sackett's estate, valued at £10,398.17
Rosie (and her sons Eric and Herbert) proved her husband Ernest's will on 16 August 1938. His estate was valued at £9,368.18
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Rosie was living at 59 Magazine Road, AshfordG, with her sisters Emily and Florence. They each understated their age in the Register, Rosie and Emily by four years and Florence by five years.19
Rosie left a will which was proved on 14 September 1955 by her sons Eric and Herbert. Her estate was valued at £3,720.20
