Arthur Henry Sackett, farmer of Northdown, St John in Thanet, Kent, son of Barzillai Sackett and Sarah Walker Harlow, was born in St Peter in ThanetG in 18691 and baptized at St George's Church, Ramsgate, KentG, on 27 September 1869.2 He died aged about 56 in 1925.3 He was unmarried.
In 1871 Arthur was living at 4 Northwood Lane, St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, and was recorded in the census as Arthur H Sackett, aged 1 and born in St Lawrence, son of Barzilla Sackett.4
In 1881 he was living at 1 Northwood, St Lawrence in ThanetG, and was recorded as Arthur H Sackett, a scholar aged 11 and born in St Lawrence, son of Barzilla Sackett.5
In 1891 he was living at Chilton Farm, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, KentG, and was recorded as Arthur Sackett, a farmer, head of household, single, aged 21. His sister Rosie, 18, was also living at the farm as the housekeeper.6
In 1901 he was living at East Northdown Farm, Northdown, St Johns, Margate, KentG, and was recorded as Arthur Sackett, unmarried, a farmer's son, aged 32 and born in Ramsgate, Kent, the son of Barzillai Sackett.7
In 1911 he was living at East Northdown, Margate, KentG, in the household of his parents Barzillai and Sarah, and was recorded as Arthur Sackett, a farmer, single, aged 40 and born in St Peter's.8
In 1921 he was living at 1 St Helen's Park Road, Hastings, SussexG, in the household of his widowed sister Florence Willett, and was recorded as Arthur Sackett, a retired farmer, single, aged 52.9
The circumstances of Arthur's death were somewhat mysterious. He was last seen on 22 April 1925 when he left his house at Rancorn Road, Margate, to go for an evening walk on the cliffs. No body was ever found and he was declared legally dead a year later when the matter of his estate came before the probate court. Arthur had inherited £20,000 in 1918 from his father.10
Administration of Arthur's estate was granted on 6 July 1926 to his sister Rosie, her husband Ernest Pottinger and their son Eric Quested. The estate was valued at £10,398.11
