Vincent John Sackett, lighterman and later a publican, son of Vincent Edward Sackett and Elizabeth "Betsey" Issell, was born in Horseydown, Southwark, SurreyG, in 18461,2 and died aged 69 at home at 42 Strathnairn Street, Bermondsey, LondonG, on 30 November 1915.3,4 He married at St George, Camberwell, SurreyG, on 2 June 1867, Elizabeth Buckingham, daughter of Richard William Buckingham.5,6,7 Elizabeth was born in BermondseyG in about 18492 and died at 3 Baldwin Street, City Road, LondonG, on 2 March 1908.8,4
     In 1851 Vincent was living at 6 Perseverance Court, BermondseyG, and was recorded in the census as Vincent Sackett, aged four and born in Horselydown, Surrey, the son of Vincent Sackett.9
     In 1861 he was living at 62 Gedling Street, BermondseyG, in the household of his father Vincent, a fellmonger, and was recorded as Vincent Sackett, an errand boy, aged 14, and born in Horselydown, Surrey.10
     In 1871 he was living at 4 Napoleon Street, Bermondsey, SurreyG, and was recorded as Vincent J Sackett, a lighterman, head of household, married, aged 24, and born in Horsleydown, Surrey. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, aged 21, and born in Bermondsey, and his daughter, also Elizabeth, aged 3.11
     In 1881 he was living at 2 Church Row, St John Horsleydown, Southwark, SurreyG, and was recorded as Vincent Sackett, a lighterman, head of household, married, aged 34 and born in Horsleydown, Surrey. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 31, and their daughter Elizabeth, aged 13.12
     At the date of the 1901 census (31 March), Vincent was a patient at St Mark's Hospital, City Road, Holborn, LondonG. He was aged 54 and his occupation was barman.13
     Vincent was granted administration of his wife Elizabeth's estate in LondonG on 9 May 1908. Her estate was valued at £142.14
     In 1911 he was living at 54 Yalding Road, BermondseyG, and was recorded as Vincent John Sackett, lighterman, head of household, a widower, aged 64 and born in Bermondsey. Living with him were his married daughter Elizabeth King, 43, and granddaughter Minnie Sophia King, aged eight.15
     Vincent left a will which was proved on 7 January 1916 by his daughter Elizabeth. His estate was valued at £440.16
