Sarah J Sackett, daughter of Abram G Sackett and Esther Adams, was born in New York StateG in about 1846.1 She died aged 35 in Lowell, Middlesex County, MassachusettsG, on 15 October 1882.2 She married in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New HampshireG, on 3 September 1865, Irving P Sargent, son of Enoch P Sargent and Jane Jameson.3,4 Irving was born in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New HampshireG, on 14 September 18345,6 and died aged 74 in Nashua, Hillsborough CountyG, on 18 December 1908.7
In 1870 Sarah was living in Goffstown, Hillsborough CountyG, in the household of her husband Irving P Sargent, 35, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Sarah J Sargent, aged 23 and born in New York. Living with them were Irving's son Frank, 9, by his first marriage, and Irving and Sarah's daughter, Armina, aged three.8
In 1880 she was living in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New HampshireG, and was recorded as Sarah J Sargent, aged 33 and born in New York. Living with them were Irving's son Frank, 19, by his first marriage, and Irving and Sarah's children, Minnie, 13, and George, aged eight. In what was clearly an enumeration error Minnie was recorded as Martin, a son. There were a total of 14 boarders in the household, mostly stonemasons and laborers, but also including Irving's sister Mary, a houseworker.9
