William Sackett Jarman, mariner, son of James Jarman and Harriet Sackett, was born in St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, in 1819 and baptized there on 16 May 1819.1 He died aged 67 in Dunedin, Otago, New ZealandG, on 11 June 1886 and was buried at Port Chalmers Cemetery, DunedinG.2 He married in Ramsgate, KentG, on 16 June 1842, Sarah Elizabeth Goldsmith.3,4
     In 1851 William was living at Cliff Court, Ramsgate, KentG, and was recorded in the census as William S Jarman, a mariner, head of household, aged 32 and born in Ramsgate. His wife Sarah, 29, was living with him.5
