Opal Cleo Sackett, daughter of Jonathan "John" Andrew Sackett and William Ophelia Smith, was born in Winthrop, Little River County, ArkansasG, on 6 April 1909.1 She died aged 63 in Paris, Lamar County, TexasG, in February 1973.1 She married first in Little River CountyG on 20 July 1929, Clarence Smith.1 She married second in Titus County, TexasG, on 14 January 1932, Elmer Griffin Newman.1
     In 1920 Opal was living at Cason Road, Justice Precinct #5, Titus County, TexasG, in the household of her parents John and Ophelia, and was recorded in the census as Cleo Sackett, a laborer on the home farm, aged ten and born in Arkansas.2
