James H Sackett, son of Marvin Sacket and Polly Nelson, was born in Lewis County, New York StateG, in about 1828.1,2 He married Sarah ___. Sarah was born in New York StateG in about 1832.2
     In 1850 James was living in Wilmurt, Herkimer County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as James H Sackett, aged 22 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Sarah, 18, and their daughter Josephine, aged one month. James's brothers Roswell and Heman were living in adjacent properties.3
     In 1855 he was living in Lewis, New York StateG, and was recorded as James H Sackett, a farmer, aged 28. Living with him were his wife Sarah, 22, and their children, Josephine, 5, and Harriet, aged two. The family had lived in Lewis County for three years. James's parents Marvin and Polly were living next door and his brother Horace's farm was nearby.4
