William H Sackett, a contractor, son of Elijah Sackett and Olive Antoinette Dunham, was born in West Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 25 September 1850.2 He married in Springfield, Hampden CountyG, on 18 December 1889, Elizabeth A Carrier, daughter of Oliver Carrier and Hannah B ___.3 Elizabeth was born in Easthampton, Hampshire County, MassachusettsG, in about 1848.
     In 1870 William was living at Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in the household of his parents Elijah and Olive, and was recorded in the census as William H Sackett, a landscape gardening worker, aged 19 and born in Massachusetts.4
